We thoroughly enjoyed our visit especially having seen the TV programme where it won the RIBA Restoration of the Year. Very interesting building and an asset to the town.

Expected an interesting historical visit, but was a bit dissapointed. Lots of nowadays stuff: like conference room, glass modern cafe and ect. For a castle, its missing that historical feeling.

A must see if you are in the area. Really unusual and fascinating history. Winner of Channel 4 / RIBI Restoration of The Tear after £12 million spent. Regular events held here too. Great Café on site for Lunch/Breakfast. Rooms available too but you need...More

This is our local attraction and very sad to say that it is sadly lacking in the special touches that the welsh are know for. We were at an outdoor concert/event and everything looked tatty - the staff were miserable - the food very disappointing!...More

Not what we had expected. The most interesting thing was the video about the history of the castle. We were finished within half an hour and most of the space was taken up by a marquee erected ready for an event.

A 'marmite' restoration that has won awards but may disappoint both purists and romantics. The Georgian villa at the castle's heart, which was in derelict condition, has been saved and looks terrific from outside. The modern architecture of the restaurant, embedded in medieval walls, works...More

Just had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. 17 'mature 'ladies who dance ,had lunch today. The food was exquisite. We all preferred a light lunch. They were all just that but also substantial.Presentation was very good,as was the prompt ,friendly service. The cost was also very reasonable....More

Sorry, there is no parking within the castle, but there is one disabled bay on the hill outside. Other disabled bays are about 300 metres away along the high street. The castle grounds has slopes that would make wheelchair... More
