This National trust property and adjoining village is a not-to-be-missed place to visit. The museum, though small, is filled with interesting artefacts and information on the pioneering photography work of William Henry Fox Talbot. The Abbey, a location used in Harry Potter films, has an intriguing history too. And you'll be enthralled and thrown back hundreds of years as you... More

We love the Fox Talbot Museum and gallery. The exhibitions are fascinating: currently a stunning photographic study of 5 different female farmers from the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Accessible for those with disabilities. Friendly, helpful, informed staff.

Visited Fox Talbot museum at Lacock and enjoyed a lovely day out. The photography exhibition is interesting and is fully accessible to wheelchair users. We took a walk across to the abbey (using the wheelchair) and took in the botanic gardens. We had no children with us, but the children we saw there seemed to be having a great time... More

Really interesting visit. Lots to see. Done as a visit to the Abbey and village. All worth seeing. Didn't go with kids but there were a few around enjoying themselves.

In the superb setting of Lacock Abbey, Fox Talbot developed the process which would become the foundation of modern, pre-digital photography. As a photographer this was an inspirational venue for me and I was not disappointed. The museum and visitor centre was well laid out with interesting artefacts, but for me, the ability to go in the grounds of Lacock... More

We spent a couple of hours looking around Lacock Abbey on Sunday morning. It is a country house, former home to the Talbot Family (William Henry Fox Talbot - photography inventor) which was built upon the former foundations of a nunnery. The cloisters and rooms under the main house are very atmospheric and give a good insight into it's monastic... More

What a great place to wander around, the village is one of the best villages I have been in for a long time, parking is free if you are a nations trust member if not it's not that expensive, as the abbey is part of the village I do recommend you pay and go inside, the gardens are very nice,... This well laid-out small museum gives an insight into the work and aspirations of Fox Talbot as well as some photographic history. As a person approaching 50, I particularly enjoyed a nostalgic look at some of the old fashioned cameras. I suspect a photography enthusiast would get more out of this museum than I did but it was a pleasant... More
