This is a must see place. We traveled quite a way to visit which as it opened at 12.00 was handy. We enjoy history so listening to the informative talk at the start was useful. Each volunteer knew the rooms well and so they were able to answer any questions we had. Every room was fantastic. The tulips in the... More

We visited Easter week and it was the main reason for our visit. This is a seriously well maintained and attractive estate one of the best designed gardens for colour we have seen of late, Spent 6 hours there .

As locals and EH members we go to the grounds quite often but haven't been inside the house for a number of years. The guides, both human and paper were very informative and many of the pictures are well worth seeing. Particularly enjoyed the nursery where today's children can play the games of yesterday's

We had wonderful impromptu Easter Saturday out at this gorgeous house and gardens. The house was populated with extremely helpful and enthusiastic English Heritage staff (and probably volunteers) who were keen to engage with us and our children. We spent a lovely afternoon strolling through the furnished rooms which are well set out, there were plenty of things to keep... More

We have wanted to visit for a while and took the opportunity to combine it with a visit to the Audrey End miniature railway. The vista of the house and the gardens are very impressive. The service quarters were interesting but perhaps could be more interactive e.g. a demonstration of how butter is made? We thought the gardens were stunning... More

Never visited before but would do again as it was hours well spent in lovely surroundings. The house was large and there were rooms to see on three floors. Some rooms were full of things to see and others, maybe disappointingly, were empty. The rooms full of exhibits were slightly lacking the history and full information of what we were... More

Enjoyed a scone and coffee both very good and managed to have an ice cream - yum! , Even though did not cover all the available features we did really enjoy our visit.... More

We visited here in the hottest day this year and although the estate was busy it still had a calm feeling to it. Thoroughly enjoyed walking around the grounds.

I brought my daughters here (1year old and 3 year old) for a day trip out. Having never been I was astounded as to how beautiful both the house and grounds were. My 3 year old had a lovely time and particularly enjoyed seeing the horses and looking at all the beautiful flowers planted in the garden behind the house.... More
