Fascinating traditional museum

I really loved visiting this museum. It's a remarkable creation by the owner; which for me was part of its charm. Also situated within a historic grade one listed building (which... read more

I really loved visiting this museum. It's a remarkable creation by the owner; which for me was part of its charm. Also situated within a historic grade one listed building (which has section dedicated to its history). The attention to detail in cataloging and displaying all the fossils is remarkable to see, and there is so much to learn about... More

We enjoyed our visit, the owner was friendly and it was a good way to spend a morning. There are hundreds of brilliant fossils on display, as well as lots of other bits and pieces. Plenty of information and history, including personal accounts which were really interesting. It did seem a little tired, and could do with a good dust... More

What a lovely little museum of fossils and stuffed animals. The owner has put a lot of love and time into this place, and with many fossils being found locally it's enthralling. It's quaint and certainly not modern, but the fascinating history and well set up dinosaur info was very good and we spent a happy hour in here. The... More

We took our 9 year old grandson on a fossil walk for his birthday and went to the museum afterwards....what a brilliant place it is...you could spend a long time looking at all the exhibits. The proprietor was extremely helpful and informative. Alex just loved the place...A superb end to a great day

A really good museum privately owned, thousands of fossils with clear information and the owner is on hand to help you identify the ones you have found.

The collections are commendable for an individual to have compiled, it is just such a shame that the owner is such an unpleasant and hostile person. Also, it is pitched toward kids (which is fine, but it should be noted for potential visitors) but the individual articles are interesting for any age of fossil lover.

We found the museum a great way to spend and hour or so - our 5 and 7 year old were fascinated by the variety of fossils and other curiosities on show. The owner treated us very kindly and pointed us in the direction of a good fossil hunting spot then later in the day identified one of our finds... More

It was very busy when we visited but that was to be expected during half term! It's easy to find although the car park is at the top of a very steep hill so if you have difficulties walking it may be best to look for an alternative parking area. I thought the entry fee of £5 for adults and... More

I found this place very charming. It's no National History Museum but it has a charm hard to describe. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Lots and lots of fossils. Adult enthusiasts could spend hours I'm sure. We were done in just over an hour. Our 4yo quoted it as the best part of the holiday and very much enjoyed spending... More

Full of locally collected fossils and very good explanations of what to look for and how fossils are made. We've been several times now.
