Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We always stop at the Mirador on our many trips to Tarifa and this time we had friends with us, who have never been before. They were quite taken with the stunning views afforded at this stop-off and the proximity of Morocco. Worth a stop and a coffee at the cafe.

We drove to Tarifa just to see the Strait of Gibraltar and the African coast. It was surprising to find out that it was so close, just ten miles across. (I wasn't a great student of geography, obviously). The views were fantastic. We were very tempted to go and see a different continent for the first time, but we didn't want to rush it. That's a whole other trip.

Amazing view on a busy road but the store is a rip off. It has the monopoly in that area and sure takes advantage of it

The Mirador is on the road before reaching Tarifa, coming from Malaga. Don't miss it. It is the best and closest view of Africa from Europe. Is almost like jumping and being there.

Driving on N-340 Tarifa to Algercias, approx half way on the side of road. Little car park and viewing point to view the north African coast line. Good spot to take photos.

This viewpoint is the closest you ca get from Europe to Africa, however, it is only on a clear day that you will really appreciate the views of the Moroccan Mount Atlas, and the North Africa horizon.
It is always very windy here, up in the hills on the other side of the road, you will see and hear the ghostly electrical windmills that completely trashes out the landscape, allowing for a rather out-of-this-world-yet-ugly feeling of the area.
There is simply not enough space for the amount of cars that pile up, one after another, non stop, at the small parking lot, and due to the heavy traffic coming right next from the main road, that is located within a few inches from the viewpoint, it is rather dangerous to hang around the parking lot area.
There is a nice cafe and a restroom area that is not kept clean.
If it's clear and not too busy, you can take some nice shots of the North African coast line, with Mount Atlas being the main subject.
In my opinion, such a strategical location should be better conditioned to hold the amount of visitors that stop by for the best view of Africa, from Europe.

Driving from Cadiz to Algeciras, there is a place where you must stop – the Estrecho Belvedere. From here you get a breathtaking view over the coast of Africa. Even if you are in a hurry you should stop. At the belvedere there is a café and toilets. Enjoy!

We drove to for two hours from Sevilla to "Mirador del estrecho", the road was really good, but the african continent views are priceless, we were here about 11am, and it was perfect views an weather, you have a little restaurant here, very pricey. You don't expend here more than an hour. I highly recommend it

We had a great time at this stopover. Enough spot for the number of cars. The restaurant sells eatable but so-so sandwiches. The view overall is just fantastic. We got a very clear but windy day and it's hard to explain how blue the sky and ocean looked. Since it was so windy we spent some time sitting inside the cafe and enjoying the view from inside, as we had our tiny baby with us.
I didn't know what I was looking at other than it is Morocco in North Africa. But it is beautiful. Definitely a must visit when in the area. Since it's so touristy, it would do some good to the owners of the cafe to learn some english and be a little less rude. They were very mean not that I'm expecting Ritz level service.
