Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We first visited El Torcal about 16 years ago, before the visitor centre, car park etc had been built - very basic and unorganised. We have visited a number of times since (last time about 5 years ago when we completed the 2 hour walk - it was March and pleasantly cool).
When we visited a couple of days ago, we were delighted to find significant improvements to the Visitor Centre - particularly a much better shop, and a pleasant café with a reasonable choice of menu. The only criticism is that the Visitor Centre from the outside is one of the ugliest buildings we have ever seen.
Nevertheless, the area is of outstanding natural beauty with incredible rock formations and views down to Villaneuva de la Concepcion, the Guadalhorce valley and the mountains beyond.
There are two clearly signposted walks - one approx. 45 mins and the other 2 hours. Try and do the shorter walk at least - it well repays the effort and on the day we were there, there was virtually no other visitors. (Shame really, as the place ought to be on everyone's "bucket list").

Being a hiker from the U.S. I only really expected maybe a place to park by the trails, hopefully bathrooms and maybe a little kiosk with maps, a water source would be a bonus. This place is up a mountain and yet it has a big parking lot, a large airconditioned visitor center with a small museum, gift shop, a cafe/restaurant, bathrooms, etc. It's even architecturally pleasing. In my opinion, the restaurant was very good. We hiked the shorter loop and then had lunch. Its well priced and the food was above my expectations, especially considering it's kind of...up a mountain! The terrace where we sat had nice cool breezes. Great experience.

An amazing site. The walks are well sign posted although for most people go on the easy walk only. A great day out a fantastic drive to get there. Restaurant was good too.

Beautifully located in the mountains south of Antequera. Nice walks among the weird rock formations. Nice observations of ibexes. Helpful staff at the information desk.

Almost everything was in Spanish so of little education use to non-Spanish reader. Also no audio-aids. However we understood there was a DVD in English and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Actually they.just turned on English subtitles but better than nothing. We were with German motorhomers & they were in same boat.
Not the best geological example anyway but thanks to the staff.

We arrived on a very damp and dismal day. But this did not detract from our enjoyment. The scenery is spectacular-the Karst landscape is different from anything I've seen before.
We had lunch in the restaurant. The local ham, eggs and chips met the needs of my stomach! My wife's soup was delicious.
Take Google translate with you. Almost nothing is translated into English.
If you're going in the autumn, winter or spring, take boots rather than trainers because it can be very wet-as it was on the day we visited.
There is Wi-Fi in the restaurant.

Just 45 minutes from Malaga and about an hour and 10 minutes from Granada, The Torcal of Antequeras is an absolute must see experience. You will be in complete awe of the incredibly beauty of what nature can create. I've been to many places that offer impressive scenery, from Iceland to Norway's fjords and Grand Canyons, and the Torcal is right up there! Okay, it is a lot smaller than the aforementioned landmarks, mind you, you can see the Torcal in an hour or so, but that doesn't diminish the uniqueness of this surreal environment. That's why it took us well over two hours because we couldn't stop taking pictures. The visitor center also has a nice terrace overlooking this unique masterpiece of nature-made landscapes, a wonderful setting to have a drink or lunch.

It was very cold in December morning, the canteen was very crowed and staffs were far too busy and no time for smiling.
Creamy veggie soup, costs 5,5€, was very tasty and gave some warmth in our stomach.

The park itself is amazing and it is complimented by a superb Visitor Centre Torcal Alto. It is VERY clean, informative and about 30% of its excellent and relatively inexpensive food menu is vegetarian. The staff are very helpful and service is fast. A model of what a visitor centre should be.
