Great way to travel in Spain

The Renfe high speed train system is as good as any of the European trains. They travel at 300 kph (180 mph) so it is much faster than driving. Pay the extra for first class... read more

Many years ago my father, mother and I drove from Madrid to Malaga - it took us two days! Our trip from Madrid to Malaga took 2 hours and 40 minutes! We had spent two nights in Madrid arriving from Miami and our train left from Atocha Station which is easy to navigate our ay through to the platforms for... More

We booked our train tickets through RailEurope and payed a service fee of $7.95 but got a fabulous price on the tickets because we booked early. If you can, book first class which we did from Madrid to Barcelona. The day that we traveled, we got a delicious pasta dish, salad and cake. They also give you plenty to drink.... More

The Renfe high speed train system is as good as any of the European trains. They travel at 300 kph (180 mph) so it is much faster than driving. Pay the extra for first class; seating is two seats on one side and one on the other with lots of space, electrical outlets and a big table. The service is... More

On time, very comfortable way to travel around Spain. The trains are modern, spacious and offer more than most airlines. I highly recommend high speed train travel.

We traveled from Madrid to Toledo return. Very clean trains. Very efficient. Both on time. Booked tickets by app GoEuro which was good although renfe insisted on printing the tickets at the Atocha station which was a little annoying. Good security. Great experience.

I travelled SPECIAL ASSISTANCE from Malaga to Madrid. Lots of legroom. Better than the plane. Courteous staff. If over 65, for E6 you can buy a Carta Dorada. Just show your passport.

Good luck purchasing Renfe AVE tickets on line. In March/April 2015 my husband and I travelled around Spain by train. Gave up buying Renfe AVE tickets online, so as we were staying in each city for 2-3 days I would purchase tickets for our next leg of the journey as soon as we got there. The ticket machines at the... More

Britain could learn a lot from Spain. We always use public transport when on holiday and often take a train direct from the airport to where we are staying. Renfe has this spot on. From Barcelona to costa brava or Malaga to Costa del sol it is just so easy and cheap. The train stations are within the airport grounds... More

Yes, that's 140 km covered in 40-45 minutes. The trains were on-time and clean, no wifi though. Perfect for a day trip to Córdoba from Sevilla, or vice versa.
