Travelled from Barcelona to Madrid. Even though the website was in Spanish, Google translate translated the entire page to English for us, which made things a lot easier. Seats were comfy, food was great and free flow of drinks (including cava) for business class section....More

Used the AVE to travel from Madrid to Malaga. We treated ourselves to Business Class which cost about €80 each, one way. The carriage wasn’t new but provided large and comfortable seats. Breakfast was offered along with drinks which we didn’t try. The train reached...More

Fast, efficient, clean, economical. Left wishing our US trains could be like this. There is no better way to travel in Spain.

The trains are the fastes mode of transport here and the operators will always keep an eye out for tourists and give you a friendly nudge to make sure you’re getting off at the right place. Also an economical form of transport.

We had a horrible experience with Renfe today when travelling to Girona from Barcelona. The train departure was at 9:45 and we were by the gate at 9:43 but they did not let us on the train. Needless to say, we were not informed about...More

We travelled from Barcelona to Girona and back and had a fast, punctual, comfortable journey; the train clocked 130mph for much of the time. A couple of points to watch: Check the seat and carriage numbers on your ticket and don't try to sit anywhere...More

I do not know if we got the best price, but via a recommendation from “The Man in Seat 61” website, we purchased our tickets via Loco2 and printed them at home. Perhaps look up both sites to get a comparison. Good luck.

If you're on the AVE, then it is highly likely. Look on the internet. Use AVE as your search string and look for 'preferente' and 'comida' if pagrs are in Spanish.
