Interesting to see the history of this art form. Staff was very friendly and informative. The DVD film on the history of hand knotted Donegal carpets. Having a chance to do a knot makes you appreciate the skill required to create such beautiful carpets

Very good if your interest is Donegal carpet making but pretty useless if you are interested in a maritime history museum or centre. Our ladies were happy with the weaving but we were disappointed in the maritime history element. Rather spend the time looking at...More

We really enjoyed the visitor centre. It was great to watch the video of how Donegal Carpets were made years ago. The staff were excellent and showed us how they used to make the carpets. They were full of stories and very knowledgeable.

The main attraction here is the old hand weaving carpet museum - very interesting and well worth the visit but didn't enjoy the fishing industry film - political rather than real history.

My attraction to this town was those beautiful machines in the harbour - £20m trawlers more like cruise ships. Have a look

Interesting for the first 10 minutes, but not really worth the time and money. I'd give this a miss! Maritime part is minimal, carpets are nice to see but it's clear that it is a dying trade.

It doesn't charge much, but it doesn't have much to show people as well. As the only "attraction" in Killybegs, such a tiny town, it's not a surprising fact, honestly.

We only were interested in the part about making the Donegal Carpets. After a short video we got a tour about carpet making. It was very interesting and the guide, who was very frienly, took all time needed to explain everything. I would really recommend...More

We were a bit hesitant to visit, but darn glad we did. The Center is housed in what remains of the Donegal Carpet factory on the edge of town centre. There are two video presentations, one on the history and manufacture of Donegal Carpets. This...More

We were advised to visit the centre and it was a wet, cold day so it seemed like a good idea. The centre covers both the history of weaving and fishery, but the fishing expert was away so we only heard the story of weaving....More
