Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were very lucky to discover Trees and Art. We've never experienced anything like it in our travels around Iceland or the rest of the world. There may be other places that feature artworks made of wood, as well as places that feature mechanical inventions, but we doubt there's any place that integrates them in such beautiful and inspiring ways. It comes out of the genius of the grandfather, who passed on his woodworking creativity to his son. We were guided through the gallery by the grandson, the third generation woodworker, whose stories brought the art we were viewing to life. The machines were as breathtaking as the wood art. It's definitely worth going off the beaten path to visit Trees and Art.

We were lucky enough for this to be a stop included on our day tour of the area. The gallery has the warmth of a living room and the intimacy of my grandfather’s workshop. Our host was gracious and generous with his time, telling us about his artistic process and the stories behind the works in the gallery. We even got a sample of his musical talent on the large organ. Get off the beaten path and visit this lovely place.

I went there with my family, my old man, aunt and grandfather. The webpage told me they weren’t open on a Saturday this time of the year but I decited to ring and check. No worries they said, they would just open for us. Great service, great pieces of art. This is a small museum and takes about 30-45 min to go through every item and every piece of information.

Okay, everything in Iceland comes with an exorbitant fee, but this pushed our patience over the top. We drove the 20 minutes out to this gallery, then found out we were required to spend 1500 ISK per person, so about $45 for 2 plus a teenager, for the privilege of browsing art we might then pay another high price to take home. We turned around and drove off.

Drove out of the way and skipped something else only to find out it didn't open until 1. Not the artist's fault - totally ours- but do double check.

We dropped by here on our way to Keflavik and it's worth the trip! The woodwork is absolutely amazing and it's really art! The artist himself is there to tell you how he made them. Really nice place :)

Get a private tour, by the artist himself, of this breathtaking collection of hand crafted wood art. Interspersed are also hand woven tapestries made by the artist's late mother in additional to the family's china tea sets. The owner is also a photographer and pilot, and captured photos of the recent volcano eruption. Set in the barn of the artist's childhood home, this is a rare find and worth the trip through farmland and beautiful scenery. Not far from Selfoss.

The wonderful artisan and his wife have set up a beautiful little exhibit of his work and that of a local master wood-carver. It is truly a sight to be seen. The proprietor/ artisan is very sweet and goes around with visitors to explain everything (at least he did for us). Though he says his English isn't great, it was more than enough to explain his work. Entrance is 1000kr a person.
