Really high waterfall located on a farm.

Short stop to view this waterfall. Could not get really close as it is located on a private farm. It was beautiful.

A pleasant waterfall
Jun. 2021 • Couples
Really pretty. Apparently on windy days it looks like it’s flowing upwards and can move side to side!
There is a road to it and off the road right infront of it - the other road is private.

Not the largest waterfall in Iceland, but one of the most photogenic.
Jun. 2019
Fossá Síðu is located 14 kilometer east of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. The 30-meter Foss a Sidu is not the largest waterfall in Iceland, but one of the most photogenic. Fossa river is not very full-flowing and doesn`t have a strong current, so if there is a strong headwind from the Atlantic, the water in it can start flowing in the opposite direction. Agree, this is rare. The waterfall is named after the farm in front of it. This is one of the oldest farms in the country (since IX century), which is associated with another legend that there is a Ghost dog walking here that carries a curse on the family, a member of which led a vicious lifestyle. The curse is lifted only after 9 generations. Can you imagine the responsibility of local residents to the future?

a brief visit
Oct. 2019
We stopped here for a brief visit only as we could not get close to this waterfall since it was on private property. However, this is a lovely waterfall and worth stopping by for photos if only for a few minutes. We've seen so many incredible waterfalls during this trip that we don't feel too bad that we didn't spend more time here. I would be willing to spend more time here in the future if they open it up to the public.

High and wispy waterfall when we visited, could not get too close as its on private property
Sep. 2018
Onward up the N1 road, next another unmarked waterfall coming over the cliff from the highlands (we found this was called ‘Foss a Sidu’) but it is on private property so we could not get too close.
A high and wispy waterfall in a beautiful setting.

Fun place
Jul. 2019 • Couples
This waterfall is so thin that it reacts to the wind and moves from side to side. It looks funny. You can't go up to the fall (private property) but there is a small parking spot just outside the barrier and from here you can see the waterfall move from side to side (if the wind comes from the right direction).

Picturesque Area
Jun. 2019 • Family
This place is pretty with a wide view, however considering just the fall it's so so, compared to other Iceland waterfalls. We pulled in the drive just long enough for a picture. This is private property so we respected the owners privacy

Magical streak
May 2019 • Couples
This falls is visible from a distance as we were approaching it from the west along Route 1 in the morning. The vertical streak of water from the mountain disappears behind a couple of houses down at the base making it magically picturesques!

For me, it is definitely a worthwhile stop to soak in this masterpiece of nature, though the volume of water at this falls is not as much as other falls around Iceland.

Pretty waterfall, can't get close to it
Mar. 2019 • Couples
This is a pretty waterfall that you can actually see from the road as you drive past. There is a small track that you can park on, but you can't get up to the waterfall as it is in private property. Only takes a minute or two to stop at, alternatively just admire it from the road as you go by.
