Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I quite enjoyed Holm House with the beautiful Rococo-period furnishings. The Old Town Museum, maybe not quite so interesting. But as you can get into both museums for a single fee (8 € at time of writing), and they're within 30 seconds of each other, you might as well see them both. Lovely and helpful staff.

Linnanmäki ( in english Castle Hill ) is a very intresting place close to the river and to the Old Town. In old days there was a castle of wood built of army forces from Denmark. There is still very large sand walls which were build around the castle. The castle was in the centre of the hill and the sand walls was in 2 circles around the castle. When you go up to the centre of the hill you will go over 2 bridges. From this place you have a very fine view out to the Old Town and to the river. This tourist atttraction is very popular and many thousands of people vist this place every year. Is you travel to Porvoo go to this place I am sure that you will like it.

This is a nice old house in a nice old town. It’s not groundbreaking or anything but it’s nice to see something that has lasted from another era.

Interesting visit today to this pair of museums. The Holm house is where you buy your ticket for both. Originally a wealthy merchant’s house. Lovely furniture and family items to look at.
The old town hall has an eclectic mix of items including children’s toys , historical items from when Russia ruled Finland ,.Also has a time line from the ice age , through the Middle Ages . Nice to see a locally born famous female artist featured as well. The guides were super helpful going above and beyond to answer my questions.
Definitely worth seeing

I'd recommend this pair of museums for anyone visiting Porvoo - they aren't spectacular by any means, but do give you insight into the history of this town, and are worth the quick 30-60mins it takes to get through them.

Your ticket covers both buildings belonging to the museum, make sure you see them both. The museum in the town hall is a little odd, and doesn't actually have a huge amount to see.

The house across the square is interesting, not a museum as such, just a period house with period interior. Worth looking at, but you won't spend long here. I found the staff in the house to be very friendly and helpful, they were really happy to explain things which was very good.

Not a lot in either for kids, so I would give it a miss if you have little ones.

The Holm House museum is a nice place to have a glimpse to the past. The rooms are nice and there are some interesting pieces in them. It's not a large museum but it's still a nice one.
