Most towns and cities have a durbar, or central, square. Patan's is comparatively quiet, surrounded by peaceful palace courtyards, shops and pagoda temples.

I loved to visit this place. It has so refined carpentry work. The details in the buildings are impressive and to visit the palaces was quite impressive. The square is beautifull and at the same time it was very sad to see the damages from...More

Visit Patan is a special experience. The central square is interesting, full of magnificent buildings, temples, shops and always a lot of people. It is located 5 km south of central Kathmandu, across the Bagmati River. Like everything in Nepal and this city has a...More

the patan Durbar used to be one of the most beautiful location to visit inside Kathmandu Valley. the massive 2072 earthquake struck the monuments and the great Krishna temple . The Cafe and restaurant seem to be quiet good. The place doesnt have enough sightseeing...More

Less busy and better preserved with full of life Durbar square than in Kathmandu. Also the museums and courtyards within the palace are really worth looking into - stunning!

This was absolutely stunning. Much less damaged than Kathmandu Durbar Square. We visited this with a guide, so weren't hassled by other guides like we were in Kathmandu. The museum inside the old royal palace was well worth a look.

Worth seeing, but not the best preserved area or the cleanest. Be aware of pickpockets too. Haven't been to Bhaktapur Durbar Square yet, but many people have told us that is the best of the 3 Durbar Square's to visit!

When I visited Durbar Square in Patan, it was two days before the Diwali holiday in 2017 and preparations were well under way. As a result it was very busy as people were buying flowers, food and other goods that they would need during Diwali....More
