Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On eastern side of Durban Square remains this 14th century royal Palace complex expanded in 17th century. Full of art treasures. Through the golden gate you will enter Patan Museum. One of the main attractions of the walking tour of Patan.

Palace is in pretty good nick.
The wooden carvings and carved windows are exceptional.
Building architecture is wonderful .
Enough signage to inform and smallish museum is pretty good.

the royal palace in Batan is a big building, which is really beautiful inside and is really worth a visit. We were almost the lonely people inside so we could take some nice pictures of this old palace.

No trip to Durbar sq in Patan is complete without a visit inside the Royal palace.
Lovely courtyards, a beautiful carved sunken water tank and you can go upstairs (shoes off) and walk around the interior, looking out at 'the people' below much as the royalty would have done.

I reviewed our visit to Patan which included this magnificent site. It truly dominates the square, and we were so grateful to see it in its glory unlike so many structures pancaked after the earthquake.

Patan Durbar square is a very beautiful, mysterious and lively place. the atmosphere during the day is nice but it is even better in the evening as it becomes more animated, with no more group of tourists and it is no more required for foreigners to pay fees

You have to get a guide for this place, someone that can explain the meaning behind the constructions, carvings and statues. This place is beautiful and a must if you are visiting Kathmandu.

The whole Durbar quarter is an absolute must, and although some of the area has been damaged by the earthquake of a few years ago, it's still somewhere well worth visiting. The buildings, carvings, and treasures are superb.

Patan is by itself an outstanding place. Its Royal palace could not be something else.Wood and Stone curvings everywhere, all of them separate pieces of high art.For a European or an American tourist it is a completely different unfamilair but very beautiful picture. You can not miss it if you are in Kathmandu.
