Gold Mine/Ghost Town tour

We spent a pleasant 2 1/2 hours touring the historic area of Vulture Mine (gold mine) this winter. Our guide knew his history and was associated with the current mining operation... read more

I have waited 3 years to be able to visit the Vulture Mine! Joyce, the tour host, gave a wonderfully informative, and humorous, tour for over 2 hours. Much walking around the property and equipment, so wear good walking shoes or hiking boots (no flip flops!). Bring a bottle of water with you, and place to walk around with 40-50... More

Joyce led us on a fun and very informative 2 hour tour! We learned about hard rock mining in both the past and the present and were able to see through a window into the past to the miners lives and the many dangers they faced. The tour is all outside so wear good comfortable shoes. Be there by 9:30... More

My son and I woke early on our Saturday morning and drove all the way to the Vulture mine making sure we arrived on time for the gates to open at 9:30am and the 10:00am tour. When we arrived we were one of six vehicles outside the gates. We were all there until almost 11:00 and no one showed to... More

We had the best time ever on the tour today! So many stories of the past at the mine with old photos to go along with. Finding out about the old equipment and how it was used was very interesting.

This was my 3rd tour of the mine over the past 20 years, and it was interesting to see the effects of time and weather have had on the original buildings. In my previous 2 visits, they were self-guiding, but this time we had a tour guide (Todd Beal) who gave us an excellent and personalized tour of the property... More

Be aware this is NOT a tour of the mine or any of the current mining operations--you're going to meander through the dirt, attempting to glean any bit of significant information while trying to avoid the distraction of fidgety, noisy kids, bored out of their minds. If you foolishly decide to ignore the reviews and head out to the mine,... More

We spent a pleasant 2 1/2 hours touring the historic area of Vulture Mine (gold mine) this winter. Our guide knew his history and was associated with the current mining operation. This is a working mine, but the active areas were not part of the tour. A good number of original buildings and lots of old equipment can be seen... More

While in AZ we wanted to take in a few ghost towns and had already visited Jerome and Goldfield - both were interesting but basically tourist traps with "wild west" style attractions and loads of souvenir shops but very few of the original buildings. My husband quipped that Jerome was the most crowded abandoned town he had ever visited! In... More

We'd known about this Saturday tour for a couple of years, but having our base 50 miles away, always made excuses not to get up that early on a Saturday, but we phoned them to check the tour was on, and took the plunge. We were not disappointed, and well worth the few dollars to get in. The tour was... More
