The Goodenough Mine is one of the twenty five producing silver mines in the Tombstone Mining District, which started the mining boom which resulted in the incorporation of the City of Tombstone. When you take the tour, you will be shown through the original 1879 workings by a knowledgeable guide, and learn all about nineteenth century hard rock silver mining. You'll see what the ore looked like, learn about how it was processed, see some beautiful rocks and minerals, and artifacts and structures that have been in place for 130 years. This is one of the mines owned by Ed Schieffelin, the founder of the town, part of the Tombstone Mill and Mining Company, which he founded as well. The Goodenough Mine Tour is the most authentic and unique attraction in the City of Tombstone, and you'll see the results of the hard work of the miners. It's an experience that you will enjoy.

My job wasn't so bad?

I have been in several caves but never a mine. Learned a lot about mining in late 1700's to early 1800's. Did you know they worked by candle light?

Fun tour and great sketchy bar up top with $1 beer and lots of :"misfits" to keep you entertained. They also have a tent that serves barbecue.

I really enjoyed my tour guide on this attraction: he was straightforward, friendly, and amusing, as well as very knowledgeable regarding the mine's history and local history. However, if you are a bit of a rockhound or are simply accustomed to slipping in to mines and enduring hikes, you may find this tour to be a bit slow and not... More

Great tour! There are a lot of steps to go down and back up at the end of the tour. We started out with a little education outside before the mine tour began. Very interesting and informative. I didn't know that Tombstone was a mining town not a cowboy/gunslinger town.

Visited today with our two children (early teens). Everyone loved the tour. Earlier reviewers mentioned issues with their guides, so we were a little concerned. I can't remember our guides name ( we vosited Sat, Aug 29th at 2pm) but he did an excellent job. Very informative. We had visited Katchner Caverns earlier in the day, and to see the... More

Great informative tour. All of us including the kids enjoyed it. Had stairs about 60 entering and leaving the mine but you could go at your own pace. We did not know it was here, so glad we found it.

I'm so happy we took this tour. It was a great way to see into the past. The tour guide is an experienced miner and was very knowledgeable. It so beautiful in the mine and to see silver in its natural form. I suggest that you wear good walking shoes/sneakers. The tour is about 30 minutes, but we didn't feel... More

While visiting family, we decided to take the kids to Tombstone and looked up the different attractions prior to leaving. The mine tour offered something different from the other regular stuff to do in town. We took the standard tour which lasts just under an hour. They have a more extensive tour that's 3 1/2 hours but most be reserved... More

Very informative and interesting. Only do this if you don't mind climbing stairs and hills. Our tour guide Mongo was a great tour guide. Learned a lot about Tombstone from that one tour. I've been there many times and never took this tour. Glad I did this time.

My kids and I took the tour through the mine. Even my 5 year old had an amazing time. What a great way to spend some family time and have a fun learning experience at the same time. The price for the tour was great and our tour guide was very informative. Highly recommend this place when visiting Tombstone.
