If you want to really experience the local culture, go to Kalapana on Wednesday evenings. It offers live music, about 20 different ethnic food vendors (and really good food), a bar, and much better handmade crafts than you'll find at most of the Big Island...More

Always enjoy the kava and company here. Can't beat relaxing next to the lava while sippin on a shell and seeing familiar faces. A favorite hangout for locals.

Interesting open place where everyone seems to gather especially on Wednesday evening where dozens of vendors gather to sell the local craft as well as dozens of foods of all types! Music is great also.!

The Wednesday evening night market at Uncle's is the best - music, food, shopping, etc. - a locals' favorite on Wednesdays but everyone is welcome!

Around 400 people, great music, dancing, excellent food, meeting locals at the communal tables, it was our most favourite night in Hawaii.

A must go to experience real Hawaiian Aloha spirit. It's not just a corny tourist slogan, when you're here you really are family. Great food, great music & fantastic atmosphere, everyone should go

Unfortunately we visited at a very slow time. It is the end of the road and provides parking for access to Hawaii's newest beach. Apparently Wednesday and Saturday are the best time to visit if you want music food and good times.
