Welcome to the Birthplace of HISTORIC Route 66! In 1987, Angel Delgadillo, the kindly crusader, led the charge to save the Main Street of America; Route 66. The Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona was formed to protect, promote, and preserve the Mother Road. The grassroots association and Angel's charisma have captured the world's attention. Today there are Route 66 associations worldwide.Angel and Vilma opened the very first Route 66 gift shop in 1987. The once pool hall and barber shop is now a unique blend of gift shop, barber shop, visitor center, and museum. The museum is dedicated to all the people who have made the pilgrimage to Historic Route 66 from all over the United States and the world. Your road trip is not complete until you experience living history at this Route 66 landmark!

Just a little gift shop with a small barber shop museum, so don’t expect much, but it’s so well run with extremely friendly staff that it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re passing. The free coffee is a nice touch too, thanks! :)

Iconic MUST see place on Route 66. Made (even more) famous here in the UK by the Billy Con Route 66 TV show. Really friendly people with a nice gift shop selling Route 66 merchandise.

You must stop if you're passing through. Most of the items are made in the USA. There are so many ROUTE 66 items and Angel's Barbershop is there. He still cuts hair. He goes in early in the morning. They offered us fresh tasty coffee...More

This place has multiple things about it. It's primarily a gift shop. It also has Angel's barbershop attached to it, which offers a photo opportunity with a cut-out of him next to the barber chair. There are also numerous newspaper clippings plastered to the walls...More

This is a fascinating gift shop and was one of the sites that inspired the Pixar filmmakers who animated the movie Cars. If you look on the wall you can even see a sketch done by the film's director John Lassiter. Highly recommended that you...More

Angel and Vilma are lovely people who know so much about RT66. It is amazing to still see these types of people keeping this road alive! Family friendly all the way.

After a while, the gift shops all begin to seem the same. This was, however, clean and run by friendly staff!

I have traveled this road many times and that was starting in 1956 the entire length so it has a long history in my life. I grew up on Route 66 in Claremont, California walking a short part of the route most every day without...More
