I have done this trail a few times and find it an enjoyable hike although it is becoming very popular. Hiking boots helpful in crossings, but in summer water shoes might be better. Poles very helpful! If you are in the area definitely hit the...More

This is a nice trail. 3-4 hr. out and back is what is advertised. $10 use fee to park at the trail head. Lots of crossings of stream. The views of the canyon are nice and there are some unique formations and scarring of the...More

Did this hike in early January, (bundle up!) but great early morning sun in the canyon, better views with some leaves down. Some hints, easy trail but sandy surface makes time slower than other trails. Sturdy hiking boots that let you walk right into a...More

We hiked this on Dec 30 and it was soooo cold! We read that the park opened at 8am, so we arrived at 7:50am to find a sign that said they didn't open until 9am. Checking the govmt website said 9am. Yet, the attendant showed...More

This is an easy to moderate hike out and back along the west fork of the Oak Creek. Be prepared- waterproof shoes, as you will cross the creek 13 times. Stunning rock formations.

We are not great hikers, but we enjoyed walking the West Fork trail. Beautiful scenery - unbelievable colors on some of the rocks. Would suggest you print a map of the trail before you go to take along as we were not given a map...More

When you want to get your feet wet, or test your balance and non-slip shoe soles, try this trail! 13 river crossings range from a hop and a jump to a wee bit tedious balancing act and some wet toes. Loved it

This is an easy and scenic hike with plenty of river crossings. Since we visited towards the end of November, the fall colors were almost gone. Seems much greener in the pics taken earlier in Fall. On the bright side, the streams were quite shallow,...More

Parking was not bad. You have to pay, of course. Sticks are a necessity since you will be crossing the creek numerous times. We hiked only about half way. But I understand farther on, you must hike in the creek itself. Good... More
We will be hiking this trail among many others while in Sedona in May. We are VERY confused about parking here. We understand that there is a paid parking area for $10.00 that fills up early in the morning. While we intend to be there early in the morning, we are curious about what to do if the lot is already full. Some say park on the road for free. Some say you will be ticketed if you park on the road. Some say you can park on the road if you have a Red Rock pass (no idea what that is or where to buy one - is it good for anything else, or just this one strip of highway???) Some say you can legally park along the side of the road only IF you have an "America the Beautiful National Parks Annual Pass" displayed in your window (we will have one of those for sure, but since this is not a National Park, that doesn't sound true). Does anyone know FOR SURE what we should do if the parking lot is full and we don't want to get a ticket while in a rental car. Can we LEGALLY park on the side of the road here? Thanks for any advice anyone can offer!!!
