Desert Monsters Tours offers Off-Road "You drive" CAN-AM Maverick Trail UTV tours in Scottsdale and Phoenix Arizona. We are a fully permitted Tonto National Forest Tour company. Our tours take you thru some of the most scenic parts of the Tonto National Forest in the Sonoran Desert. You are in the driver's seat on our ATV/UTV tours. We operate using late model CAN-AM Maverick Trail 4 wheel drive UTV's.

Was in Scottsdale for a conference looking for some excitement. Perused the T/A listings of ATV tours and found Desert Monsters offering a sunset tour through the desert. We jumped on it and signed up. It's about a 30 minute drive from Scottsdale into the Tonto National Forest (really more desert than forest). You meet about a half a mile in at the general parking area and look for the Desert Monsters truck and ATV's.
We were greeted by Mike, one of the nicest, most knowledgeable guys you'll ever meet. It seems like you can have probably up to 8 to 10 ATV's going on the tour, but we lucked out as we were the only ones to sign up for that time slot (it was on a Monday and pretty chilly - late February). What we got was an awesome high speed personal tour spanning more than 30 miles. We told Mike we wanted to go fast and he did not disappoint!
Mike was more than happy to stop and take pictures, answer questions about the area, provide water and snacks and let us switch drivers. Make sure to dress appropriately! You're going to the desert and at sundown it will be 10 to 30 degrees colder than in the city. They supply helmets, bandanas and all the gear you need. Thankfully, Mike even had extra coats to ensure we were warm enough, but I wouldn't count on that if you're in a large group.
The machines are well maintained and you'll have a blast criss-crossing all kinds of terrain over about 2 and a half hours. The scenery is beautiful and just stunning at nightfall. We've done several ATV tours and this in one of the best!

UTV with Desert Monsters for our 10th wedding anniversary!!! ( I'm
Obsessed with cactus 🌵 so it was cactus heaven for me)
Booked 5pm tour and we were able to catch the 🌅 sunset!!!! 😍 temperatures dropped very quickly so it got cooler pretty fast while going through the canyons. (114 degrees that day but it's dry heat not humid..It didn't bother me much got a good sweat 😓) must try peeps I recommend in October or spring time for those who can't stand the heat 🔥
Mike our Cool tour guide was extremely helpful and nice! Cold Water bottles provided through out ride. We enjoyed it very much and it was our first time. Will do it again!!!

This was one of the most amazing views of the sunset I have ever experienced.
Mike and Kendrick went above and beyond for us.
They took pictures along the way they made sure we were safe, they were very efficient and organized.
Provided us with water and fun facts about the mountains and cactus in the area. If you were THINKING about doing this here’s your sign! JUST DO IT!

Planning a trip to Arizona and wanted a little adventure. Came across Desert Mountain ATV Tours and afternoon reading the reviews took a chance and it was so worth it. Our guide Jen could sense my trepidation for sure as I followed “her tracks” with my 72 year old Mom as my passenger. We weaved along the trails and over bumps with ease and safety was never an issue or concern. Next time I’ll be the passenger so I can see all the gorgeous scenery. When we come back we will definitely be doing this again. Was worth every penny. Thank you Jen for a memory we will never forget.

What a fabulous experience! Two couples hired Desert Monsters for a two hour UTV trek through the back trails of Tonto National Forest. Mike was our guide. An unexpected treat was Mike’s vast knowledge of everything cacti, geography, history and knowledge of the Native American culture. And he’s a great photographer, too. This is a must do!

This was the best activity we could have done during our trip. This was recommended to us by a family friend. 5 of us were in the Scottsdale area to celebrate a birthday and we did the sunset tour. All I can say is the desert scenery was amazing, the tour was so fun and driving the vehicles was even more fun than I expected. The icing on the cake was our tour guide, Mike. He was great - he explained everything very well and made sure we timed everything in order to see the beautiful sunset and he took several great photos of our group. It was really a perfect outing. I can’t recommend this enough and I can’t wait to do this again.

We were planning on hiking when unfortunately I broke my foot. We booked the Sunset tour with Desert Monster tours, they were able to accommodate us with our last minute change of plan. Seeing the Tonto National forest up close was spectacular. The cacti, the vistas, moonrise and sunset view from the crest of the mountain was all timed just perfectly by our guide Mike. As it was our first time off roading, he made the experience safe and fun. He spotted (off trail at 24 mph) two rattlesnakes and took the opportunity to stop, get out, let us listen to the rattle. He made sure we had photos of adventure. He enlightened us with the history of the area, showed us that a forest looks very different in Arizona than it does in Ohio, and helped me forget about my broken foot! Overall we recommend the sunset guided tour with Desert Monsters —ask for Mike to be your guide.

This is a must-do activity when you’re visiting the Scottsdale or Phoenix area! The 6-8pm tour slot wasn’t overly hot, and we got beautiful sunset views at the end of our tour. Desert Monsters was efficient and prepared by providing gators to wear for dust protection, snacks and water. I was personally nervous to drive at first. After letting our guide, Luke know he took the pressure off by saying I could try it and stop if I didn’t like it. He took us on a smoother leg at the end, and it was perfect for me. I’m so glad I drove! The views were beautiful, and it was great to make a few stops to take them all in. This tour was a highlight of our trip!

Our experience with Desert Monsters Tours was a complete blast! There was ease in signing up through their website. They were accommodating and courteous despite having come in approximately 5 minutes late by calling us beforehand to check our arrival status. The paperwork prior to beginning was easy to complete and the instructions provided by the three staff Luke, Martyn, and Mike were concise and easy to follow. I appreciated that it involved a bit of laughter to add levity to our experience, especially since it was our first time on a UTV. Thanks Mike! Our guide Martyn, made us feel very comfortable from the start. There was a genuineness that was palpable. He helped with the fitting of equipment, cleaning of our equipment (yes, there will be sand), and checked on our group periodically as we drove. He was calm and created a feeling of safety with his demeanor. He was courteous helping take photographs once we reached our destination. This was one of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences I have ever had and I highly recommend Desert Monsters Tours due to their exceptional and accommodating services. Thank you especially to Martyn for his service!

Great experience, loved the scenery and being able to disconnect from life for a few hours! First time on ATV tour, I would never go without guide, you could easily get lost on the travels. The ATVs have awesome suspension,
several times you couldn't even feel the Rocks on the path. Highly recommend this tour!
