Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and Resort in Scottsdale put us within walking distance of the canal which we were at first excited to hear. Unfortunately, this particular portion of the canal was not especially exciting. The walking path was even and clean but there wasn't much to see. From what I've read other portions of the walk are much better. We'll have to check those out next time.

The Canal in Scottsdale is a newly developed area located near Fashion Square and Old Scottsdale. It is a beautiful area- very clean, wide areas for walking- complete with numerous bars and restaurants. A great addition to the night life scene in Scottsdale.

We came for a few hours and strolled around.
What a lovely waterfront with lots of restaurants and much more to do.

I always bring my rollerblades to PHX and enjoy the smooth concrete sidewalk and trees, birds, and the canal. Access at the back end of the picnic area near the lake, behind the Zoo - plenty of parking at no charge. Near Hole in the Rock. GREAT exercise and not crowded at all!

Walk from the fashion square, past canal and into old town. You can rent bicycles (1$/hour) at canal bridge, crossing over into old town.

The area, surrounded by restaurants, shopping and hotels is very pleasant, with many areas to sit in the shade. In the evening the water is covered with laser light show.

If you enjoy cactus, and other succulent plants spending a few hours walking through this garden is well worth the time. We went the 2nd week of April and many of the cactus were blooming, the blooms do not last long but the colors are as varied as any flower and just as beautiful. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and are more than glad to answer any questions. A must see is the butterfly exhibit. Definitely worth seeing.

The weather was nice, so this is best place to take a walk in the evening. The sunset was amazing. Go and take walk.

The trails along this canal seem to go on forever and provide a relatively safe place to walk or jog without vehicle traffic. There are some difficult road crossings and I would prefer an overpass or underpass over some of the six plus lane highways.

There is FREE underground 'Public Parking' right across the canal off of 5th Avenue. You may also park free in the Mall garage @ Fashion Square.

I saw tents set up on the canal walkway in the pictures; when do they have arts & crafts festivals there?
