We came out early in the morning and were soon joined by a plethora of hummingbirds, and variations of sounds and calls of other birds. If you are a birder, be patient and keep your eyes open....you'll see plenty!

I first stopped here to see the Rose-breasted Becard on nest, which was swaying in the wind. Since then (1993) I cannot drive by when I am in the area! Last year we watched 2 Golden Eagles soaring over the cliffs, and this year listened for the Canyon and Rock wrens that live here. A safe pull off between Patagonia... More

A little place along side the road where I stopped and organized the car a bit. Stretched my legs and was onward to my destination.

An absolutely beautiful place to Bird. You hike a short road that follows a cliff on one side and a stream on the other. Even if you do not see many birds, the site is fantastic.

I have traveled extensively in Central America. The trail across from Patagonia Rest Area through the mesquite and oak forest reminded me of some of the thorn forests I have visited in Guatemala.

Only birders would spend time at this rest stop because this is apparently a super famous birding spot with specialty like - thick-billed kingbird. We stopped by here on our way to Sierra Vista and bumped into 2 more vans full of birders!! In addition to the target bird, we also say Grace's Warbler. By the way, there are also... More

so if you just want a place to picnic--- go somewhere else-- no bathroom facilities and the sole table is not that attractive. But go across the street at the northern end to Sonoita creek where there is a very short trail and you'll be rewarded with many birds. We watched a Gray Hawk repeatedly gather leaves for a nest... Stopped by this place because of trip advisor recommendations. Not really worth the stop. Go to the Nature Conservancy.

Who knows, but the birds sure do. Follow the directions and you'll be treated to some special sites. As always, sit still for a bit and you'll start to see a variety...you never know what's going to fly by, but you'll like it.
