- Dan SHamilton, New Zealand132 contributionsRefresh yourself at PiulaSuch a beautiful spot to refresh and wash away all the salt. Loved by locals and visitors alike. I highly recommend a visit here. The water is so clear, it's almost blue and there are plenty of fresh water fish to see at the bottom. Couldn't get enough of this place!Visited January 2023Travelled soloWritten 12 January 2023
- Jana DNew Plymouth, New Zealand97 contributionsGreat experience!A lovely spot and very well looked after. This must have been the cleanest swimming spot we found and the nicest fales to shelter from the sun! Lovely clear water in the spring, with quite large fish. Not a huge variety but crystal clear and quite refreshing as colder than the sea! And nice as no current. Come early in the day before the crowds arrive and the water gets all mixed up. Bring a picnic lunch to make use of the lovely fales. Snorkeling in the sea is quite good too, better at high tide.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 July 2023
- Rebecca LMercer, Maine83 contributions1st time at PiulaI would give it five stars, but we’ve been to some more incredible fresh water swimming places since then. It is a lovely visit though, and the kids had a fun time swimming around. It was nice having bathrooms and a place to change and fales, for sure!Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 15 July 2023
- Remy3 contributions10/10 Swim SpotThe most incredible swim spot! Suitable for all ages. We were amazed at how many fish there were! But watch out for giant eels. The water was crystal clear and refreshing, would definitely recommend as a must-see while you’re in Apia.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 September 2023
- Mtul25 contributionsPiula cave pool- a different type of cooling off.Absolutely recommend visiting this place when holidaying in Samoa. Set within 1 of the most immaculate villages it was such a nice change of water scenery. The toilets and bathrooms were clean and updated so made the post swim meal enjoyable. We ate at a few cafes but we thought this place had the best hot chips! Water was refreshing and relaxing in the cave was a great way to cool off from the humid weather. Would visit again.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 October 2023

Beautiful visit to the caves, amazing swim. Bring goggles to see the fish and underwater magic. It’s super cheap, (10 tala per person) and a refreshing dip. Well worth a visit.

This site is very popular with local families so can be quite busy. There are steps down from parking area at the church and changing facilities nearby. It's a place for a dip or splash but not a swim.

Amazing experience! The water was so clear and there were so many fish swimming around. There was also a massive eel that was cool to see. Would highly recommend this experience.

Lovely fresh swimming hole but was very crowded when we went. The water was clear and the fish very active.
It’s not the most spectacular place to visit in Samoa but a lovely stop for a cool and refreshing dip.

It was really refreshing. You would need to walk down these steep steps to get to the pool. There are beach falas at the bottom where you can put your belongings. The water is pristine, nice and cool. Especially great to swim on a hot day. THe waters are very deep with some fish. You do not need to be cautious with because there are hardly any fish in there. If you swim through the cave and hopefully make it to the other end, there is a beautiful little spot there. You would need to be a great swimmer with the ability to hold your breath for a minimum of 2-3 minutes. I personally did not try this, but my family members did and had a great time.
There was a few rubbish scattered here and there.

Amazing place! Beautiful fish and clear water. I wish I bought snorkeling gear but the fish are a bright blue so you can see them fairly well regardless. Nice place to sit and relax in sun after. Very friendly people. Changing rooms available. Would love to see some info about fish eg species etc they were very beautiful and seemed very used to people. Very clean water.

Can you ride a bike from Apia here?
Looking at the map it's only 22kms from Apia and thinking it might be achievable on a bike as the island is fairly flat.
Has anyone done this? Or how else would someone get there from Apia?
