Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This was a great cruise. Saw a large amount of cormorants and sea lions. Cruised out to the most southern lighthouse in the world and then cruised back and forth caught a bus back to town. The return trip included the end of the trans-continental highway, a scenic lake with a view of the mountainous region of Chile, all though in truth, as you cruised the Beagle Channel one side is Argentina and the side is Chili.

Over more than a decade I’ve explored the Beagle Channel from land and by water. For a land perspective I recommend a hike along the channel from within Parque Nacional Tierra Del Fuego. On the water, I had the opportunity to cruise from Ushuaia en route to the Drake Passage which took us through some virtually unspoiled natural landscapes dotted with uninhabited islands and remote, sparsely populated villages. There is so much incredible wildlife both in and around the Beagle Channel.

Incredible experience with nature. Located in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, it is a strait located in the city of Ushuaia, very close to Antarctica. Best way to explore is via a boat trip.
The channel is home to large birds and sea lions, which stay on small islands along the strait.

I chose the catamaran ride because this type of boat is more stable and less chacoalla for those who get sick. I closed the tour with an agency called TANAKAR and then found out that the agency only does an intermediation. The owner of the business (hey Valeria) went to meet me, without any identification, took the payment, gave me the voucher and turned her back. They make a cute little site to fool the vacationers with the appeal of "exclusive tours", "few people", but it's all ballet. Close the tours there in Ushuaia at the agencies of the harbour. Finally, great walk, take water and get excited.

We picked up the boat at 15:30 and the tour ended at 6:00. The sailing was very quiet, we saw sea lions, sea elephant and cormoran birds (which, in the distance, look like penguins). The boat stays long in the lighthouse, allowing to photograph and observe the animals. I suggest bringing a camera. An unforgettable walk.

Seldom in one's lifetime do you get the opportunity to experience a top 10 bucket list which is exactly what we were able to do when our cruise ship spent the day in Ushuaia. We scheduled a boat tour to Martillo island to see the massive penguin colony and transited much of the Beagle Channel marveling at the vast array of marine wildlife and the sheer beauty of this remote area of the world! WOW what a gift to mankind and delight to be able to experience it!

This is the second time we visited Ushuaia with my husband. This time we did not sail along the canal like the first time, but we could have stunning views when we made the trail from the Estancia Tunnel to the Río Encajonado. It is a strait of about 240 kilometers that connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific and crosses Tierra del Fuego, being the gateway to Antarctica.

We took a trip on the beagle channel which passes by the lighthouse, the lighthouse is cute and smaller than I thought. It’s nice to see this lighthouse at the end of the world during the excursion. Then we continue to the island of the sea lions and then to the island of the penguins, it’s great to see them evolve.
