We did the dinner tour with horse ridding.
Everything went well (the dinner, explanations, time schedule, friendly staff), however during the horse ridding rained (in fact rained a lot).
The guide was using a poncho (cover against rain), but what down grade my score was the fact that they didn’t offered this protection to us. So, after the ride all of us were totally wet (and coooold ❄️❄️❄️).
The explanation of wool commerce and extraction of sheep was after that and I could pay the attention I would like because I was felling very cold!!
My recommendation is to offer the poncho also for the visitors to avoid this kind of situation.

I have stayed at the ranch many years ago and it was very beautiful, now the experience was totally different, they have a divine place to treat it badly the way they do, the lunch salads without any thanks, canned peas was the Corollary, the lamb meat was good but when they touched the ribs they forgot about our table and in the end they brought all the remains (literally) when I complained they argued that the ribs are like that... I was born in Patagonia... anyway, doing 60 km of gravel and not having a good experience is crazy, they can charge 30% more, it doesn't matter but they have to give the place a higher level, I say all this to contribute, I would love to return but with another service.
The ride was short but good, the attention was very friendly.

The guide was friendly and informative. Spoke great English ( and other languages. As was multi language group). The short hike ( more of a stroll) was informative and enjoyable. The information given during sheep shearing also good. The location is stunning.
The hospitality and lunch was superb. So much lamb . Salad was also a good selection. The wine was nice but I personally would have liked to be able to maybe buy an extra glass.
No activity after lunch which was disappointing and people a bit confused after lunch about transport back to hotel. Although it was all under control and just communication was lacking a bit.
Over all a great day out. The 50km from calafate is on dirt roads so bumoy but a very scenic journey

We did the 5-day trail on horseback. Wow, what an experience! We didn’t see anyone during the ride, except for some other guests during our hike to the glacier. Nature is so beautiful and peaceful. Breathtaking!
Our guide Juani was the BEST. He took such good care of us, the horses, cooking food etc Some things went wrong, but he solved them and took action where needed. He made our trip!!! If you’re in for a one in a lifetime experience, do this trail. It’s unforgettable! Thank you so much for everything Juani! 🙏🏼

As soon as my family and I arrived to this estancia we knew something was off. Firstly, we were greeted by an extremely unprofessional and unenthusiastic member of staff who didn't even say hello to us. Instead, she just spoke to the driver and showed us our bedrooms as quickly as she could. I had previously been travelling around patagonia staying in very cheap hostels, and even then I felt more welcomed than this suposedly high end stay. Shortly after our arrival we were informed that there was no wifi between 2-5 pm, as the generator would be turned off. We were never informed of this prior to our arrival, and when we kindly enquired as to whether they could delay this by 30 minutes as I had some urgent emails to respond, the same staff member just shrugged and said 'I don't make the rules'.
We were given some processed meats and cheese for snack, which was also disappointing considering the high price mark! However, the two other members of staff we interacted with inside the estancia were extremely graceful, polite and professional. The rooms are basic but comfortable and spacious.
What I think set the tone for the entire stay was our night at the quincho. We were told to be there at 20:30 sharp because that is when the meat was going to be ready. We arrived from a long activity of trekking and hiking that night at 20:30 and were hoping to freshen up before dinner, however this proved to be impossible because we were told to immediately make our way to dinner. There, we found that there was a large communal table for all of the guests (we don't mind, but it would be nice to know) but the joke was that there wasn't enough room for all of us to sit together. When we asked if we could be seated at another table, the waitress working there just said that it was reserved for the owner, even though later on we noticed two cooks sitting there on their phones for the whole evening. Truly ridiculous!
Honestly, I don't even care for places which are overly fussy, however it would be nice to rely on a stay which is at least organised, with respectful and polite personnel - considering an average stay there is 300 dollars a night. I would look elsewhere if possible.

My boyfriend and I did the horseback riding 4 day tour including optional Glaciar Sur add-on. The trip was wonderful. There were two other guests who did the tour with us. We were beginners (we did a few horseback riding lessons for a couple of months at home to prepare for the trip, but the western style of riding in Argentina is not the same as in Canada). Our fellow guests were expert riders. Our guide Franco still found a way to make it work for all of us. The horses were very well-trained and calm. The saddles were well-padded and quite comfortable. We rode for a total of about 4 hours each day on days 2 and 4 of the trip, and 1 hour on the first day when we stayed at the estancia. Day 3 was spent hiking and on a boat with Glaciar Sur (see below). The landscape of the huge estancia was stunning. It was amazing to be riding in the vast hills of Patagonia, away from all other tourists, with birds chirping and occasional cows grazing. We learned a lot about riding, horses, estancias, Argentina in general and many interesting facts from our guide along the way. I felt like I got a good exposure to the local culture. The food was good. I am a vegetarian and despite having mentioned this several times during the booking process, the information was not passed along to our guide until we met him in person the night before leaving. He still found a way to make it work. The 1st night accommodations in the estancia are homey and pleasant, although the power is turned off after midnight until 8am, so it is best to charge all electronic devices before then, since there is no way to charge anything on the horseback riding portion of the trip. There is no need to bring a sleeping bag or binoculars on the trip (I say this because these items are bulky/heavy and information provided by the company advised us to bring them). The hut that we stayed at on the 2nd to 4th days of the trip (Outpost Laguna 3 de Abril) is basic but cozy. It has solar-powered lights and a wood burning stove/heater. There is a flushing toilet in an out-house. At night two gauchos joined us for supper and conversation. One of them smoked inside the living area, but there was no problem when I asked him to smoke outside instead. The Glaciar Sur expedition involved getting picked up from the lake-shore (there was no dock and the boat could not get all the way to shore, so we took off socks/shoes and waded about calf-deep through glacial water to the boat - if your feet are sensitive, consider bringing water shoes). We were once again with two other guests for the expedition. The boat took us across a lake, then we did a half-hour hike, then got onto smaller boats which took us across another lake as then we did a 1.5 hour hike to get to the viewpoint and our lunch spot in front of glaciers. Once again we were all alone with gorgeous views without encountering any other tourists. Our guide taught us interesting facts about the wildlife in the area. Overall it was an amazing experience and we would definitely recommend it. The guides were exceptional, as were the horses and it was some of the most beautiful landscape that I have ever seen, and without the usual hordes of tourists.

The estancia landscape is really beautiful, but there was many "but"
First of all we took a van that should have done the way to the Estancia in an hour but took two hours to get there! And also two hours to get back to the city! Due to that we lost part of the activities at the Estancia as well in the city.
The flyer that is available at hotels and turism agencies says that we will have Horse Riding or Treking with lunch in a Ranch Day... but it was not the truth.
We did not have the Horse Riding experience that was the only reason we choosed to go there! There were a lot of excuses because we got late, there were no more horses available, even if we stayd during the whole afternoon.
Pay around USD100 each to go for a four hours bumpy ride (going and back) Just to see a lake, see how they take off the wool from a sheep and have a limited lunch is not worth the price.
My doughter horse ride for more than 5 years and this is what we wanted ... a hours Riding experience in family ... and they did not managed to fulfill what was sold.

We visited this estancia while staying at El Calafate for a couple of days. We were collected from our hotel by one of their staff and travelled in a small minibus about an hour or so to the ranch. The trip out was quite interesting, allowing us to see more of the countryside outside of the township of El Calafate - having done the Glacier tour the day prior.
Upon arrival we were welcomed to the site with a warm drink and a chat about how the day would proceed. Our guide was very friendly and while still learning English, was very willing to try and provide us with as much information as possible. She made our day most enjoyable, answering all of our questions and taking time to ensure we saw all that we wanted.
Our first activity was to watch the gauchos relocate the sheep from their night-time pens to the outer paddocks, they did this on horseback. Then we were given the opportunity to watch one of the staff shearing a sheep (by hand!) and the process was well explained and we were able to get up close to photograph.
For those who wanted to do some horseback riding - the option was available for a fairly modest fee and those who chose this activity set off toward the lake while the rest of us walked to another part of the lake which was quite breathtakingly beautiful with the snow-capped mountains in the distance. We enjoyed our walk for around an hour as did the riders who returned with big smiles.
Once everyone returned to the main building, we were directed to take a seat and prepare for lunch which was included in the tour. We all sat at a large table and were offered a complimentary drink (wine, soft drink etc). The barbequed lamb was simply amazing! It was incredibly plentiful - with lamb joints together with beef sausages served in abundance. Coming from Australia, where lamb is something we do often, I can honestly say that this was the best roast lamb I have ever tasted! The cooks are located in a windowed-room at the end of the eating area and they were obviously delighted with our big thumbs up!
I thought that the day would be pretty touristy - however I was really pleasantly surprised to find that while it is aimed at the tourists, the staff are all quite natural and it is EXACTLY what they say - a working ranch.
They also offer accommodation at the estancia and had we known this was on offer earlier, I would have happily stayed overnight just to experience the rural atmosphere.
We could thoroughly recommend this as a day's activity while staying at El Calafate. The travel to and from the site was quite good, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing.

We visited the Estancia as a day trip from El Calafate.
Pick up was on time and we were all crammed into into a dusty shuttle van. The driver drove erratically as he picked up other guests, speeding up as fast as possible and then slamming on the brakes 10 feet prior to each hotel; he also almost got T-boned at an intersection!
After the crammed 1.5 hr shuttle ride we arrived at the Estancia. It has nice scenery of mountains and a lake, not too different from El Calafate. The sheep shearing and tour demonstrations were fine.
Dinner was simple salad and fresh lamb. Each person gets one drink, you cannot have both water and wine! Uno Bebida was the strict rule. We felt they were very stingy with the wine and the extra glass we purchased was a tiny pour.
They took us back 1 hour after they said they would because they spent so much time trying to sell us their crafts in a glass case. We returned back after 11pm (were told we would be back closer to 10pm)
I thought it was a big waste of time and an uncomfortable shuttle ride out to the estancia. I would not do it again and would go to one closer to town.

Although we only stayed one night at the estancia, I would highly recommend Nibepo to anyone seeking a very quiet get-away in a historical setting. An attentive and friendly staff are there to get you settled in lovely rooms with beautiful appointments. Don’t come if you are looking for Disneyland - rather, understand that electrical power is only for a few hours in the evening and internet access is not going to trouble you with your cares. An outstanding experience. Read a book by the fire or take in the amazing views and pure air at the estancia.
We also took the 4 day horseback ride through the national park on the estancia. What an absolutely amazing experience! The horses are well fed, treated with respect and very responsive. The guide is VERY specific to explain how the horses are trained and how to interact with them safely. You will get reminders as you need them that keep you and everyone else safe on the trail. You will ride on mostly single-track, so expect single-file riding and know that the national park has strict regulations on riding, including a “no galloping” due to issues in the past.
Franko was a truly excellent guide as well as a gifted horseman and delightful host at the outposts. We understood at every point what to expect and had no problem getting any questions answered.
Every honest and experienced horse-person can appreciate all of this, though those who think they know more than everyone else may not. You will see reviews to that effect. Take them with a heavy dose of salt!
The views are beyond breath-taking! The horses are intelligent and kind. The ride is an experience of a lifetime!
