A Very Enjoyable Visit.

Ariel provided an intelligent and entertaining experience, fluently switching from Spanish to English to Portuguese to enlighten all of us on the tour. Very enjoyable!

we thought we were going to head to a distant estancia and experience the real thing but we ended up in a reproduction of the very experience we wish we could have lived. Anyway the host were friendly...we learned something and kids had fun as there was plenty of space ..

We spent great time with kids there today and learnt many interesting facts about history of Calafate, enjoyed serving of Maté and traditional coffee, saw Gaucho and dog handling the sheeps, sheep wool cutting, organic garden, tried homemade pastries and tapas and great lunch. After vising the glaciers the other day, this was very pleasant and relaxing activity handled in... More

We took that evening tour, because we had to kill our evening after arrival from BA. I agreed, the wine should be included in price, but it wasn't. Its' a typical "tourists" trap and that is how they make a living. We had to wait for Japanese group till 10 pm!!! go back to the hotel. There is no escape... More

Being Australians from a rural area, we already knew a lot about sheep farming but we still enjoyed this visit. Yes, it is set up especially for tourists and the sheep are so well trained they almost run into the pen without needing to be urged by the sheepdog, but we looked past all that. We found Pancho's history of... More

We chose this event because it included the cultural dancing and songs of the people. It was interesting to see the sheep rounded up especially the working dog. The cake and charcoal in the coffee from the fire was a different laid back snack. The weather was good as we watched a ewe sheared. They were very open to questions.... More

We really enjoyed the sheep herding and shearing demonstration, as well as drinking the strong coffee, made from putting ambers rolled in sugar in the coffee pot. It was delicious! Also a great meal of grilled meats and organic vegetables from their own greenhouse. The folkloric show after the meal was very well executed.

We really enjoyed our visit to Estancia 25 de Mayo. The evening started with mate and tortas fritas followed by coffee prepared in a tradition manner. A demonstration f sheep herding on horse back with a dog assisting. This was followed by a demonstration of traditional sheep shearing. Then a walk by a stream where we drank wine and tried... More

The grounds are just on the edges of town, so you can't feel really like in an estancia. Nice demonstration of sheep shearing and short show of a gaucho rounding the sheep herd with a border collie. Also, bottle feeding of a calf and of a lamb to satisfy the urban crowd. The staff was very friendly but speaks little... More
