Of course the landscape is beautiful and it is amazing to approach Perito Moreno glacier from the water. Also, our guide Diana was very nice and knowledgeable. The problem is the time we spent just sitting in the bus and in the ship cabin. It takes quite some time to pick up all the people from their Calafate hotels. We were unlucky as our hotel was first in the morning and last in the evening, adding about an hour in the noisy and bumpy bus. Once arrived at the small harbor the trip continues in a boat where you mostly sit inside the cabin in a chair, much like the bus actually. The two stops around Lago Argentino are nice but not that spectacular. We had some elderly people in the tour group who needed a lot of time to accomplish the two short walks. Our guide did not allow us to stray from the group at all and this became a bit of a bore. Finally we arrived at Perito Moreno relatively late, due to the slow pace of the group, and were told to be back at the meeting point in 45 minutes, not enough time to really experience the place and even complete the major walkways. Once back at the meeting point, the boat was nowhere to be seen and we waited for another 40 minutes for the trip back, which took almost 3 hours until we were back at our hotel, by which time we were truly pissed off. Really more than 80% of this trip was spent sitting in a bus or boat cabin, or waiting. 3 stars only because our guide did her best.…

The boat excursion gives you another angle on the glacier and being at sea level you have a better impression on how large it is. Well worth the cost and if you are luck you will see some calving activity

I went to Patagonia and I enjoyed all excursions but I loved this one tgat isn't as popular as others. We obviously wanted to visit Perito Moreno Glacier , but we wanted to explore the rest and we didn't have so much time nor fitness for more advanced trekking This excursion took us to see some beautiful places that are not that known, gave us the chance to do some trekking and eventually allowed us to see the glaciers from a boat and from the balconies (where we were allowed to walk free for 2 hours) You get the commodity of being picked up at your hotel, have non stop coffee, tea or mate and croissants, a guide and being dropped at the hotel. The Mayo trek is perfect for amateurs tlphat enjoy a bit of freedom and walking!…

The day we went, it was extremely windy. The captain did a great job docking the boat. The main issue was there was no English interpretations - only Spanish so no one knew what to expect. Half the boat ie 60 passengers were Chinese so they had no hope of knowing what was happening. There was no safety instruction or briefing and people rushed upstairs onto the viewing deck and moved from one side to the other to take photos. I know now how ferries have capsized when people rush from one side to the other. The entire experience/trip lasts 60 minutes and was disappointing. My recommendation - don't go unless you can speak Spanish…
