Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ok so a different type of review. My wife and I ran up to and back down from Cerro Otto this morning. It is 16k from town and took just over 3 hours. It is very runnable with no real steep parts (600 m elevation gain). As you leave town going towards the cable car station you will see a road on the left to “Piedras Blancas”. Take that and keep going. Incredible views of the lake all the way up. Of course you don’t have to run. You can walk !

My friend and I hiked to the summit, it was a tough hike but worth it. The views are really incredible and it was good exercise, if a little tough at times. We decided to get the cable car down but when we arrived (an hour before closing) we were told we could not buy tickets as the ticket offices were closed. This seemed a bit ridiculous as there were many empty cars and many staff really not doing anything. Hugely disappointing end to a great hike.

We went up Cerro Otto by teleferico, cable car but walked down after a good coffee and tostada in the restaurant. The restaurant rotates! Absolutely wonderful walk down though it’s about 5 miles.
But worth it. Brings you into the middle of Bariloche.
Highly recommended on a good day of summer 👍

Cerro Otto, in Piedras Blancas turned out to be an excellent spot for children and has an unique and spectucular view, even if it´s cloudy. Different from Cerro Catedral, Otto also offers "Nordic ski" which is basically an 1-2 hour walk in the fresh snow, a little higher though. During winter it´s frequent to snow a little bit every day. Five minutes or so every here and then.
In the other side of the mountain there is a cafeteria which provides you 360 degress view of Bariloche and surroundings.

Take the cable car to the top & it opens the door to tons of activities - hiking/biking during the summer - all the winter sports during snow season. The many cabins dotted throughout the area give you a place to warm up or just sit & relax. Incredible views in all directions.

We drove up to the top the gravel road was fare shape and there were a couple of places to stop and get some great views of the mountains. No mater what you have to pay to get to the very top at the restaurant. Not much, The restaurant turns nice and slow giving you a 360 deg views while you have lunch. There is a gondola if you do not want to drive up. We got our best view of the condors at this location.

Nearly gave this trip a pass because of the negative reviews but so glad I didn't. We took
the bus that left from town and cable car to the top. It cost 650 pesos each but worth it. At the top the staff were really friendly and there was absolutely no problem accessing the many trails around Otto as some people suggest. We were asked to leave name and cable car ticket only to ensure that we had returned safely which I found to be a great safety feature. If you want take a nice walk hike out to the Roc about 3km lovely views and not to ardous. And yes we had coffee and cake in restaurant views were gorgeous so why not .. we pass this way but once!

Better done on a day that is warm. It was very windy and cold when we were there, so it was hard to stay outside, where it is a much more interesting view. The restaurant was decent for a lunch. I would suggest this more as filling a few hours in your schedule and not necessarily as something you must do while you are there unless you have managed to not yet be somewhere in the area that gives you a decent view of the area.. My review would probably be better had it been less cloudy and you could see the Andes a little better.

You can get to Cerro Otto on your own. There is a little ticket house in the main square where you can buy your ticket and hop into the free bus to the tram station.
Tip - the normal fare is Ps400 but if you can show you are 65, the senior rate is Ps 250.
Panoramic views if Bariloche.
The restaurant is ok so we opted to eat back in the city.

Amazing view of the city and the lake, but don't go if it's cloudy. You won't see nothing. Get the teleferic tickets including the bus fare in the two kiosks located on Mitre street.
