We rounded this mountain through the lake cross trip from Chile to Argentina by land and boat and it was incredible! Worth it! Do it.

We have been at the Tronador in a rainy day, about 2.5 hours from Bariloche. The way is impressive, but not easy. However, despite the clouds, 25 minutes of sun, were enough to enjoy the magnificent view of the glacier, the waterfall and the all area.

Cerro Tronador is not easy to get there, but it's worth the journey. The turn off of Route 40 is 35 kilometers south of Bariloche. The maps show a town near the turn off to the mountain, but don't be fooled. A two building entity does not make a town. The turn off is just past a bridge. Look very... More

It is the highest peak/mountain in Argentina. A story attached to this mountain peak is that a few years back there was a build up of snow on this peak. It was a glacier and a section of the glacier broke away and the water that built up behind it flooded down into the national park below flooding some of... More

One of the most stunning views and hikes in Bariloche and Patagonia! Very recommendable. Dinners in the refugio are second to none. Can't wait to be back!

During our crossing the Andes we got to see Tronador from many angles. At more than 11,000 feet, it is a true landmark for this part of Patagonia. We had clear weather for the crossing and could watch Tronador above us or in the distance for many miles.

Enjoy Pampa Linda from the valley or hike up to either Otto Meiling or Rocca Huts. Check in to hiking through from Pampa LInda via Rocca to Lago Fria and Puerto Brest for the ferry back to Bariloche. Most arrive in Pampa Linda and head straight for the huts - or visit the valley and head back to Bariloche. Morning... More

Took a bus tour, made several stops on the way to the mountain. Ultimately traveled to an overlook of the black glacier. We were fortunate that we had a clear day for the trip. Would not be as impressive on a very cloudy day.
