Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The statue stands on a headland at the end of the main beach of Puerto Madryn and is a stop on many organised tours. Good view back to town and the cruise ship port.
Patagonia was inhabited by the indigenous Tehuelche, the subject of the sculpture. The monument commemorates the special relationship between the indigenous people and the Welsh settlers who first landed on the nearby beach in 1865. The peoples helped each other, a very different relationship to that of other settler groups who persecuted the Tehuelche.

There's a good view of the Peninsula Valdes and of the Golfo Nuevo from this site on a bluff above the sea. Great place to watch the sunrise.

During our tour we stopped for a quick photo opportunity. It is dedicated to the Patagonian Indians who helped the Welsh Pioneers when they arrived here.

This is one of those 5 - 10 minute stops for a quick picture and maybe an overview of the area. We cert6 would not put it as a go to must stop but if you are driving by OK for a quick stop.

A great spot to stop and take a picture of the bay and the monument to the local Patagonian Indians who helped the original Welsh settlers of the Valdes peninsula.

Just another statue. It is around the bay. I guess it is meaningful for the people, but to us no big deal.

In the early 1800s the pampas and Patagonia were desolate lands inhabited by the indigenous Tehuelche. Argentina wanted to claim the land before Chile could, and under Julio Roca mass genocide of over 15,000 was committed. The intent was to clear the land in order to establish colonies and farming.
Meanwhile, the Welsh were feeling persecuted and emigrated in order to preserve their language and culture. They fled to Patagonia in 1865 where they were welcomed. (Some towns have retained the Welsh culture today....Puerto Madryn, Gaiman.) The persecuted Tehuelche helped the Welsh get established and they maintained a good relationship. This simple statue is to commemorate that critical relationship.
The statue sits at a great vantage point for nice views and photo ops.

We had the luck that our tour guide Juan Carlos of All Peninsula Valdes was a wildlife freak and he has native Indian roots. So we were told a lot of the background of the Indian life before and now.

This is quite an impressive statue on a headland at the edge of the bay. It is worth a look, but for me the walk around the bay was as pleasurable as the statue itself.

Very impressive statue, dedicated to native indian who helped the first Welsh settlers, there is a story of Ann Humphreys who on landing presented her newborn child to the Indians to hold , as a sign of friendship who had come down to the beach to see the settlers

La distancia no es tanta así que se puede hacer caminando .
A la ida el último tramo es en subida pero no es mucha y las veredas están en perfecto estado.
