Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This dramatic monument to Gen. Belgrano’s most famous victory in the battle for Northern Independence is quite breathtaking in several ways. It was built around 1901 to commemorate the battle that took place on the edge of the city on 20th February, 1813, on the very spot where Belgrano had placed a cross over the mass grave common to “Victor and Vanquished”, a pious hope for the emergence of a united Argentina. It is the epicenter of a Park of the same name ( 20th of February) that is situated near the beginning of Highway 9 (Avenida de Bolivia). The park was designed by a French and the Monument by a Spanish architect, and while most of the material of which it is composed is local, some of the bronzes actually were made in France, and the artistic themes have a distinctly French intellectual flavor. The intrinsic design is pyramidal, with the apex in the form of a very slender statue of Liberty, with hand outstretched, rising to 80 ft and light enough to be susceptible to movement in high winds. Below, we have Belgrano carrying a flag (he is the designer of that which now represents his country) and 3 of his military colleagues. These figures are complemented by 4 Condors and 4 “Virtues” as a sort of testimony to the courage and wisdom of the 4 heroes depicted. The base of the pyramid contains four female figures and 6 roaring lions. The pediment can be accessed by 4 symmetrical staircases, and the whole work is a masterpiece of national pride and identity.

Saltas really has a lot of monuments. This is in no way a special place, it is actually quite boring.

The surroundings of the monument is very worn down and there is a lot of ugly graffiti.

Absolute no reason to go to this place.
