Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An impressive building right in the middle of the city. The building holds various expositions and activities.
Worth a visit and it's for free.

Before entering up the stairs to the huge high doors, take some time to,read the Storyboard, as it were, to the Right of the Entry. This will certainly help you appreciate what we are so fortunate to be able to enter and find in such beautifully preserved condition...and it’s free. Do note the stain glass ceilings as well, and what a staircase. On either side of the first floor are several exhibits. Allow yourself time to see all there is within.

This French Neo-Baroque style building was constructed in 1913 on church lands and became the 20th of February Social Club. It is a beautiful building inside and out, and was considered to be quite vanguard in its time, featuring an intricate iron railing lining the grand staircase, tall stately columns, arching wood and glass doorways, Venetian-style polychrome floors, and stained glass from Milan.

In 1950, Ricardo Durán, the governor of Salta, designated the building a Government House until 1987, when it was renovated and became a cultural center. The building was declared a national landmark in 1994. Today it is used as a cultural center, hosting small art exhibits, music concerts, and conventions.

It is free to enter and only takes 15 or 20 minutes to have a look around. It's not a must-see, but it's beautiful, especially the stairway and the Salon (the grand event room). The building is right in the Plaza de 9 de Julio. Since you'll be there anyway, it's worth a stop.

The museum is free to enter and is set in a fabulous building in the main square in Salta.
The exhibitions change frequently, so we saw some impressive photography, a beautiful collection of nativities, and a video on the train to the clouds.

The children enjoyed walking around in relative safety (nothing to touch or break!)
We spent a quick half an hour in there

This is a beautiful Art Nouveau building standing on one side of the main square. The decorated facade opens up to a lovely and decorated main entrance. The groung floor hall opens up to several side rooms, all currently housing a fashion exhibit. The majestic staircase leads to uppr floors, where additional forms of art are on dislplay. Make note of the ceilings, chandeliers and the elaborate ston floors.

An impressive staircase and imposing rooms with free entry to the 2nd floor where music classes appear to be conducted in the former ballroom. Worth a quick look.

We visited here briefly after going to MAAM (which is a must-see). It took us about 30 minutes to walk round. Beautiful architecture in the building with the sweeping staircase in the middle. One enjoyable and unexpected extra was a collection of modern drawings and paintings by local artists. Probably wouldn't recommend a detour to come here but if you're in Salta it's worth a look.
