Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our all day organized excursion to Cachi led through the beautiful and fertile Lerma and Calchaquies Valleys, through the spectacular mountain range Quebrada de Escoipe. We enjoyed breathtaking views of Valle Encantado and reaching the Piedra del Molino at 3,348 meters above the see level (roughly over 10,000 feet). We stopped at National Park of the Cardones (cacti). Came back filled with natural beauty.

A 40 minute drive from the city of Salta, this mountain road now leads you into the middle of the majestic Andes. A windy road following the river and then a breathtaking squiggle up the mountain sides, up to Piedra del Molino, about 3700 mts high. Then goes down to the town of Cachi, a beautiful almost untouched colonial town in the middle of the quebrada Calchaquí. Plenty of good hotels and great places to eat. Not to be missed.

We visited this region doing a full day excursion to Purmamarca and Humuaca in the province of Jujuy. It is a full day tour from Salta by bus, and this takes you through beautiful countryside and the Cerros where soil in 7 different colours can be seen. On the way you stop (check beforehand with your touroperator) in Uquia (3 houses and a very interesting church with 9 unusual paintings from 1700s), Purmamarca and Humauaca, which are beautiful colourful Indian villages. On the way back we stopped in Tilcara where we visited an old Inca site (Pucara) . A super day with beautiful views and interesting sites to visit.

We were lucky enough to have a personal guide who took us, amongst other sights, to this amazing vista of coloured rocks as well as to San Antonio de los cobras and the salt flats which have to be seen to be believed. Some of the journey involved heights of over 4000 metres and passed through extraordinary contrasting landscapes.

Route 33 takes you from the valley to the high country on the way to Cachi. It is maybe 80% paved but the steepest and most curvy parts are gravel. Fabulous mountain scenery.

A quebrada is a narrow passage with a river a road in the middle, and 2 mountain chains at each side of them, separated no more than 5 kms. Otherwise it would be a valley. As the road gains mts above sea level on its way to the cuesta del Obispo, you can see an interesting change in vegetation, from jungle (yungas) to semi-desertic vegetation
