This place looks nice and it is a fun thing to do if you have some extra time. Probably a good thing to get a guide, so you can get some information. It’s a nice walk and the scenery is beautiful.

We arrived here in late afternoon which allowed for some nice light to photograph the cactus. Much of the village is reportedly rebuilt. It’s very interesting to see. There are rocky paths that may be too much for folks with mobility issues or strollers. I...More

The Pucara is the main feature of Tilcara and provides an interesting set of ruins of an Inca fortress amongst giant cacti and with a spectacular backdrop. We came here in the late afternoon and very much enjoyed the walk around the Pucara, together with...More

Although largely reconstructied the site is a really interesting glimpse into pre colonial life in this wild area. The setting is awesome so worth visiting just for the 360 degree views. The cactus formations are equally beautiful - some we were told are 300 years...More

We went on Monday because its free that day, and luckily, because I was really disappointed. Yes, the views from the hi are nice and there are loads of cactusses - but archeologically this site has nothing to offer. Everything is reconstructed, nothing is old......More

Easily reachable on foot from Tilcara, the pucará is well worth the effort. Choose a quiet time of day if you can and don't forget to visit the Botanical Garden of indigenous plants.

This was very disappointing .. Only if the Pucara de Tilcara was left as it was found instead of being rebuilt. The pyramid on top is not authentic & is a memorial paying homage to few archeologists. The only good thing is the view on...More

For a small fee you can wander around the old ruins, town square and ancient dwellings. There is a gradual climb to the top, where you will find a rather strange modern building. The view here is superb. There are some huge old Cacti interspersed...More
