Like many of the road trips in this part of the world, this road is spectacular. never ending hairpin bends wind their way up to and well over 4000 metres. if you keep going you will end up in Chile, but you could just go to salinas grande salt flats and come back.Its a enjoyable drive. Travelled October 2015

The road is spectacular with various geological landscapes and plenty of surprises along the multiple curves. It culminates at 4170m but remains a very easy drive all the way. Of course it is a bit less spectacular than other passes, some even at higher altitude, on gravel roads in the area but if if you want to get a taste... More

This is probably top 5 scenic road in the World. What a marvelous canyon, colors, Cactus , Cardones, Cerros , Llamas, Alpaca, Vicuña . It is located 4000 above the ocean level.

We used Uma Travel in Salta for our long but very well worth day out. We were picked up at 7.30am in a 4 wheel drive with an excellent driver called Gonzales (Turk) and followed the track used by the Train to the Clouds which at the time of our visit was not running.
