Interesting little museum

This museum is small but gives a excellent detail of the history of Mendoza and its Wild West like beginnings . Has lots of old murals showing the people of city at various times and the social heritage and class in mural from . Also has some of the original city foundations left over after a large earthquake destroyed most... More

The museum is under reform but they still give a very nice and free tour of the foundations of city and the plaza around it! Very informative and very interesting! I think it was nice of the museum to think of an alternative tour while under construction! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us very good information about... More

It is interesting to learn about the history of Mendoza, particularly why and how it was founded. The museum and the guided tour of the ruins are worthwhile, but I wouldn't say it is a must see in Mendoza.

This was the place of the original City hall, then a slaughter house, a market and now finally a museum. You can see the old foundation for the original building. It has some pre-colombian artifacts. It is all in spanish but you can understand most of whats going on. Regular price is $30, students pay $14

Excavations revealed that beneath an abandoned slaughter house lay the remains of the city's first government building, destroyed by the 1861 earthquake, which forced authorities to relocate the city. The museum shows the remains of parts of the old government building, parts of the old slaughter-house, and an exhibition of remains of the primitive inhabitants of the area, the Huarpe... More

There is some interesting history here. The exhibits are nice, particularly those containing the archaeological remains of the old Mendoza city. There is not much to see in general, but it is still worth a visit, especially if you are into history and are interested in learning about and seeing the foundation of the past city.

This museum is built over an archaeological site, it is reasonably well thought out with some good exhibits but I felt it was a bit jumbled up, maybe a problem with my limited Spanish. We had free entry on the dia del museos.

A small museum in a little park at the foundational square. Even though we could not speak spanish we could understand the history from the displays.

This is the city history museum and basically serves as a stand for the artifacts found during the excavations in the 90s. The place is far from being amazing but the ticket costs only 20 ARS (about 2 USD) and allows you to visit the Aquarium and Modern Art museums.
