This Plaza is one of the essential points on a first visit to the city of Buenos Aires. Misnamed Plaza de los Dos Congresos, the confusion is due to the fact that the monument located there is called "De los Dos Congresos", in honor of the Assembly of the year XIII and the Congress of Tucumán. It is part of a group of three squares located in the same area, next to Plaza Lorea and Plaza Mariano Moreno. The construction of these squares was an urban creation around the celebrations of the centenary of the May Revolution. Its main attraction is its incredible fountain, unfortunately closed with bars, which is truly exceptional and much prettier if the water jets are on; At night they are usually illuminated. Another attraction that can be found in the square is the monument to Mariano Moreno, the monolith at kilometer 0, the Monument to Ricardo Balbín and Jose Manuel Estrada, among others. If you go with children, at one end of the square there is a play area for the little ones, an attraction for the whole family!!!

If you start with the casa rosada, and continue on the av. de mayo ave, you'll end up here. The congress. Located only 15-20 min away. Be prepared to see some homeless people and many many buses. The congress itself is undergoing some maintenance right now.

The Plaza del Congreso is a really aesthetic place in which to rest your legs and chill out. The gardens are very well kept and the place offers great photos with the statues and Congress building in the background. There are plenty of green spaces in which to sit and relax.

This is one of my favourite plazas
This is one of my favourite squares in Buenos Aires and it did not disappoint this last time. it appeared to me as an oasis amidst the urban jungle. There is one of Rodin's rare original prototypes for The thinker here as well.

The Plaza wasn't that inviting because a beautiful fountain and the Congress Building were fenced off. The Jacaranda trees were blooming and the architecture is stunning, but it all seemed a little like faded glory with the fencing and the homeless people.
As I was searching for this place on trip advisor I just happened to see a review titled 'Beware' and it mentions a trick people do to rob you. It happened to the 'Beware' author on this plaza. It happened to me right outside of the Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo. You think a bird has pooped on you, a lot, but its someone walking behind you that squirts something on you. When they offer to help you, they rob you in the commotion. We weren't robbed and although at the time this happened I was unaware of the ploy, my radar was still up and we told the guy we didn't want his help.

Despite the great statues and monuments, we found this square abandoned by local authorities, since lots of homeless people are living there. Because of this the place smells urine and is rather dirty.
Even though I would recommend to go there and admire the good architecture of local buildings and to have a good view of the congress building.
