Top ways to experience Costanera Sur
The area
Neighbourhood: Puerto Madero
From its refurbished red brick buildings and port cranes to its modern skyscrapers and luxurious apartment buildings, Puerto Madero is the perfect combination of old and new. The river provides a quiet, relaxing atmosphere that contrasts with the hustle and bustle of heavy traffic just blocks away. Across the river, flanked by skyscrapers, are beautiful parks and quiet streets that make this neighbourhood a unique destination in a city as busy as Buenos Aires. The restaurants, bars, and nightclubs on the docks make it a prime spot for nights out and have come to symbolise this area. Puerto Madero is even more striking after dark, when the lights from the docks and skyscrapers glow against the night sky.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We walked from the Hotel Carles, it is a great park of trails and wildlife. A once beautiful lake is getting choked out by the very invasive water hyacinth.
Trails are dirt/gravel with walkers, joggers, and bikers of all ages.
Pull off viewing platforms are available for birding water birds.
Gets hot after 11 am..closed Mondays, free entry.
Cabs are hard to find in the morning, have a cell # when you want to leave.
Lots of birds..we identified 43 without a guide.
I'd recommend hiring a local bird guide if you have time. Plan 2-4 or more hours there.

The Ecological Reserve of Costanera Sur was one of the best things that I did in Buenos Aires. It is easy to access and I can't recommend a visit more highly. There is so much to do such as parks, sports and general strolling around the stunning reserve. There is an office in which you can obtain a map and you can tailor a route throughout the park that is suited to you. It is free to visit also!

Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve
With 350 hectares (865 acre), the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve is the biggest and most biodiverse green space in the city of Buenos Aires. It is very close to the busy downtown area, on the other side of Puerto Madero in Rio de La Plata. The area was declared a Natural Park and Reserve in 1986. It has more than 300 species of native and exotic birds. It is an excellent place to enjoy nature in its naked form. It provides a good escape from bustling city of Buenos Aires. A long walk in the reserve may create an everlasting memory in your heart, if you love mother nature. The main entrance at Av. Tristán A RodrÃguez 1550 in Puerto Madero. The reserve is open daily except Monday. Entrance is free.

located alongside Ecological Reserve is this lovely waterfront promenade, that is just lovely for walking along, there are many barbecue carts along the way to entice the punters for a rest and a quick feed, definitely worth a visit.

Located right before the Ecological Reserve, make sure you try the street found, you'll see a lot of food trucks offering that. Also nice for a run or just a walk.

Right in the heart of the city there's this amazing place full of birds. It's an ideal getaway for half a day, whether it's for birdwatching or for a run or bike ride. There's no entrance fee.

It is a walking path along the Rio de la Plata where there are some stalls selling food, drinks, and souvenirs. Not particularly interesting, it offers a view on the large water area that connects BA with the Ocean

If you want to escape the crowds and enjoy a peaceful time among nature this park is the place to be. Located on the eastern side of the city and bounded by the Rio de la Plata on one side this huge piece of greenery is a lovely place for an early morning or evening stroll.
There are two entrances, the main southern one called the Brasil entrance and a northern entrance which is a bit more inconspicuous. My suggestion will be to enter from the south.
There is no entrance fee.
The bets and fastest way to get around the park is on a bike but rental places are hard to come by.
Don't bank too much on the information counter at the park. its often not manned and even if it is its not too useful.
The whole reserve has a circular trail and its pretty straightforward. There are almost on signs on the trail but then again its just a big circle.
Keep your eyes peeled especially if you are a bird enthusiast. This reserve has fauna like its no ones business. Binoculars will be really handy here.
Carry water with you. There are no filing stations or shops inside the reserve. There are some restrooms at regular intervals.
If you can time your visit with the guided tour that's the best bet. Check for the dates on the website
Its a perfect spot for a picnic. A lot of locals do this. There are lots of seating areas on the shores of the Rio de la Plata.
Along the outside of the reserve the streets are lined with street food shops and vendors selling all kinds of wares. But these don't open in the morning and come evening time this street is absolutely buzzing.

Although we had a bad day, it was raining, we decided to go for it. It is lovely so close to the city and just worth paying a visit.
