The area
Address
Neighbourhood: San Nicolás
Immersed in the sound of honking horns and the footsteps of busy office workers, the Microcentro area of San Nicolás is where visitors will encounter the true hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, walking down streets lined with office buildings and banks. The financial district is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and unstoppable rhythm during office hours. After dark, the hubbub and migrates to Corrientes Ave., where theatre lovers might start their evening at a play and end it in one of the many traditional pizzerias nearby. During the day, Corrientes is known for its many bookshops and classic cafés, which are located just minutes away from some famous landmarks, like the Obelisco, Avenida 9 de Julio, and the Teatro Colon.

An impressive view and visit of our beautiful City of Buenos Airea, from the dome of the Guemes Gallery, Florida 165. A place worth knowing. Only one con, admission is paid (costs $500) but they only accept cash. In this era of virtual wallets and/or transfers, that should be modified

It was very busy since it’s at the middle of Calle Florida. The mall has nice architecture, but I don’t think some shops/stores are fitting for its aesthetic? But that’s just me. I regret not going to the rooftop for the city view though.

It is a place for those who love history and architecture. Mixed gallery, where lived the writer Saint Exupery, went through fire, decadence, but was restored, and a few years later took the current appearance. It was the first BA skyscraper in the early 20th century and currently has a rooftop, the Florida 165, with beautiful views.

A 3min walk from the Catedral subte (metro) stop, you'll find Galleria Guemes. Built in 1915, Galería Güemes was the city’s first skyscraper. The 16-story building is now an average mall housed in one of the best art nouveau buildings in the world. It is said that the writer of The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, once lived in an upstairs apartment in this building.

Sit in the cafe on the ground floor and look up at the glass dome ceiling. For 60 pesos, you can take an elevator to the 14th floor, then climb a spiral staircase to see views of the buildings in the Florida area and the Rio de Plata in the distance. The observation deck is open M-F from 9-12pm, and from 3pm – 5:30pm, but is closed on weekends. We popped into this building around 1pm, so we couldn't go to the observation deck, but we had already visited nearby Palacio Borolo, which is higher, anyway.

Fun for shopping but even more fun for architecture buffs! Take the elevators to the top for a city wide view that is fine but not nearly as good as the one from the rooftop bar on Palacio Barolo. There is a great old fashioned Starbucks in the Guemes which is a great place for a break while visiting the museums downtown,

Elegant old building. The cupola view is decent as you can see from everyone's photos. Price now 50 pesos and as the space is tiny and the staircase is tiny, there are visiting time slots.

See posted photo of information sign.

My title says it all. The details in this gallery are gorgeous! I go all of the time, just to walk around. Dont miss the tour with a trip to the tower. Beautiful views of the city, great for photos. The ground floor gallery has a good selections of boutiques. There is a nice large Starbucks. Also different coffee shops and eateries. Enjoy!!!
