This is not the place for children or fine shopping. On a typical weekday, you will rub shoulders, literally, with the common folk, the busy delivery truck employees, the street vendors, and wholesale buyers from the interior of the country. The narrow streets are packed, the sidewalks have seen better days, and whatever is cheap, is precisely that. I strongly recommend to watch out (don't carry a purse, jewellery, camera or phone), go in a group if you're keen on seeing this neighbourhood, and don't go come nightfall. The street blocks are thematically grouped: sewing, material, party, packaging, toys, upholstery, beading, etc. which makes this neighbourhood so distinctive from others. Pickpocket and purse snatcher haven.

I rather liked this mall. It had style, plus lots of stylish people, plus lots of elegant little eating places where I could get a decent cup of coffee, a good if not hearty sandwich and some beautiful chocolate something for apres, and study my guidebooks and maps away from prying eyes. Good people watching too.
