Buenos Aires has a lot of fairs, from one of the largest book fairs to arteBA modern art fair, to design fairs. Look up their calendar and pick one to attend. Entry fees are reasonable and this is a great place to walk around, the architecture is impressive, and fairs are a great way to interact with locals. Highly recommend... More

La Exposicion Rural (called "La Rural" by Portenos becuase that's where it is held) only happens once a year, typcially at the end of July/first of August. If you are lucky enough to be in Buenos Aires when it is happening, stop everything and go. The Exposicion is basically a state fair for the entire country of Argentina, which highlights... More

Le Rural is a cavernous convention center which is ideal in both size and location to hold them, however, it's not worth visiting in it's own right. I do feel one should come here if they're interested in the fair or convention that is here at the time.

This is a huge exhibition of art, all modern but with a focus on South America. Many non South American artist also exhibit here with galleries from around the globe (mainly NY and European). For my taste not much to take seriously or to buy although the place was very busy with many locals from Buenos Aires. There was some... More

La Rural is a huge convention center that is well know for many event during the year. Check the website to see when events are happening. The book fair takes place every year during April and May and is a great event that goes all day regardless if you buy a book or not, come and see it.

BA's huge convention center, which hosts everything from BA Fashion Week to the huge gaucho rodeos/shows; ski conventions, etc. Always something interesting there and worth checking out, on it's site.

I went to the Exposición Rural and it was awesome. There was a 3d movie and a presentation about farming in most argentine countries.

There are various expos at La Rural, but even when you go to the Feria del Libro, you can feel (and smell) its origin, which as its name implies, is rural (think cows, horses, ranches, etc). However, remembering the importance of the rural aspect in Argentina explains why a place intended for cows and horse expos is so grand. Now,... More

Staying in Palermo

Neighbourhood Profile
Palermo
Best known as the largest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favourite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.
