The plaza gets really busy in the early evenings (presumably when the locals get off work?), so it's a fun place for people-watching. Lots of interesting and beautiful architecture surrounding the plaza as well.

Nice plaza with view of the pink house. If you go at the right time of day you can see the changing of the guards which was impressive.

Well kept, lovely city park, surrounded by the history of BA, good & bad. Lots of security / police presence, yet free speech and peaceful protest are tolerated. This is the place where the Mothers and Grandmothers of the thousands of the still-missing gather wearing...More

Lots of history at this square, it's most fun to read upon a little Argentinian history before visiting or have a guide to explain things. Otherwise it's a collection of pretty monuments.

People here proclaim their freedom in various ways. I was taken with the graffiti and the various new revolutions which seem to be evolving as time goes on. I was very touched by the stamina and fearlessness of the people throughout my stay.

It's the square where the protests during the military dictatorship took place. There tou can find the argentin government building (Casa Rosada) and the metropolitan cathedral. Its name means May square, in tribute of 1810's May Revolution.

As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires,
Montserrat is defined by the historical events that

this connection to history: countless public
