The area
Neighbourhood: Puerto Madero
From its refurbished red brick buildings and port cranes to its modern skyscrapers and luxurious apartment buildings, Puerto Madero is the perfect combination of old and new. The river provides a quiet, relaxing atmosphere that contrasts with the hustle and bustle of heavy traffic just blocks away. Across the river, flanked by skyscrapers, are beautiful parks and quiet streets that make this neighbourhood a unique destination in a city as busy as Buenos Aires. The restaurants, bars, and nightclubs on the docks make it a prime spot for nights out and have come to symbolise this area. Puerto Madero is even more striking after dark, when the lights from the docks and skyscrapers glow against the night sky.

We walked along the water in Porto Madero to approach this iconic bridge, one of Buenos Aires' famous landmarks that gives the city its global recognition.
The "Women's Bridge" as it translates, is named for the many nearby streets named after women but it holds more respect in its own right, as a way to recognize and celebrate the power and significance of women. You can walk across its solid wooden boardwalk in about 5 minutes and snap photos and admire its incredible and unique architecture and meaning.

After crossing the Buenos Aires’s elite district of Puerto Madero, we found one of Buenos Aires most iconic structures. A beacon to all pedestrians, this elegant and sophisticated homage to women is one of the city’s most contemporary structures, curving over the waters of the Rio de la Plata. The street of Puerto Madero is one of the only places in the city where you can see and enjoy the river.

This delightful bridge is more that a functional pathway. It's a blend of sculpture and architecture. The official BA website states, "The bridge represents a couple dancing tango, with the white mast symbolising the man and the curve of the bridge, the woman. It has a large turning mechanism, allowing it to swing open to allow sailing ships to pass. The bridge was constructed in Spain and donated to Buenos Aires through a private donation." Definitely worth seeing as you stroll the nearby canal with it's shops and restaurants.

I kept wanting to see this bridge take off at some point. It didn’t, it stayed put the whole time.
This old city is smattered with modern installations like this bridge. It always great to see a smooth and well functioning juxtaposition of old and new in any metropolitan city.
It’s a sleek and streamlined bridge. I am certain the sail or wing like protrusion must serve some practical purpose.
It was cool to walk the bridge either way. I was half expecting it to transport me to the way future.

I first saw this bridge when it was under construction. At the time, it was a little controversial. Today, it is very well liked and an iconic symbol of Buenos Aires. On this visit, there were thousands of people crossing the pedestrian swing bridge. Many were taking selfies and others using the bridge for photo ops.

Visited this spot on our last day in Buenos Aires and were surprised that we left this for the end. Beautiful light at sunset on the city skyline. Nice vibe with music and restaurants lining both sides of the canal. Street Tango performances nearby and a perfect end to our Argentinian travels..

Very nice stroll through this architectural marvel sample by Spanish Architect Calatrava. Homage to women empowerment in Argentina and the rest of the world. We crossed the bridge to have a nightcap drink on Puerto Madero. Lots of nice restaurants and bar options. You can just sit and relax and watch families and friendly people just walking and enjoying the ample walkways. Recommended.

Great fun to walk across this bridge if you are in Puerto Madero area. We viewed - different architecture, walked across it and admired it. All of the street names in this district are named after women.
Unusual structure and nice to see.

We admired this bridge from the next bridge down and took some photos. It is pedestrian only and was nice to look at, but really it's nothing all that exciting. We didn't walk across it, so perhaps we would have had a different impression if we had, but it was a nice photo that we could take from further along the waterway.

This iconic bridge is in the newly constructed area of puerto madero where a huge investment was made in creating a modern commercial hub for Buenos Aires. It’s supposed to look like a couple dancing the tango. The sides of the railing for the pedestrian areas are lined with locks to symbolize unbroken love. The bridge is for pedestrians only and opens in the middle for passing ships. Worth a look. Enjoy the surrounding cafes.

I advise you to get around by taxi to all these places, it is very cheap and if you want also has the subway that takes you to almost all these places.
