What a great experience this was. Daniela was a great guide around the city giving me background into the different neighborhoods we went in. She asked what I was interested in and would have tailored the experience if I had any preferences but I did not so she gave me a little of this and a little of that. I... More

Me and my partner really enjoyed this tour- our guide, Danielle, was perfect- approachable and friendly and had lots of good advice and encouraged us to look at things in a different way. What I particularly like was the opportunity to really notice things in this very vibrant area (St Telmo) in a way that is different if you are... More

My wife and I took the Streetscape tour through San Telmo with Lisa as our guide. From start to finish, the tour and the entire Foto Ruta organization was superb. Becky and Jocelyn answered our initial email promptly and we got a very good package of information well ahead of the tour. Lisa, our guide, couldn't have been more helpful.... More

This group is a first class organisation. From the time I first emailed to the actual tour everything was top rate. I received detailed preparation materials ahead of time. Our guide, Kicca, was right on time to meet us and took us on an in depth tour of some of the most photographically interesting areas in the city. Kicca gave... More

Lisa was our photoguide and as well as a great insight into the history of the city we got some great pics with Lisa's help. We took the pics but with Lisa guidance learned how to really capture the "spirit"of the scene and we are now putting these new skills into practice THANK YOU LISA!

My mum (an experienced photographer) and I (happy snapper!) loved the Off the Beaten Path tour with Lisa - not only did we both learn a lot but we saw and experienced a side of BA that we would otherwise have missed. Lisa offered excellent guidance, tips and encouragement throughout the tour - I would highly recommend this for anyone... More

My family and I (spouse and 2 kids, 16 and 8 years old) did a half day tour with Foto Ruta in BA. Lisa was our guide. We had a fantastic time. We covered 2 neighbourhoods, learned a lot about the cultural scene in the City, and expanded our picture taking (and editing) abilities enormously. We all had iPhones or... More

I have just experience one of the best photographic tour and training course ever. Lisa is an amazing person, with deep knowledge of history of photography, techniques and of the history of Buenos Aires. She is able to combine this in a great tour. She also challenged me and my friends by using features not often used in our cameras.... More

I had a great afternoon ambling around Buenos Aires with Kicca. I booked the Recoleta tour, but had already seen some of what was on the usual walking route, so Kicca took me to some places that aren't included on the usual tour. I got to see where the rich and famous live in BA in Palermo Chico and lots... More

I did the 'off the beaten path' private tour and it was a highlight of my Argentina trip. Lisa was my guide and she was a great teacher - super patient and really approachable. We walked for 3 hours around Villa Crespo and Colegiales neighborhoods and took hundreds of photos. I wouldn't have found these spots or people on my... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
