We did this photo tour in Buenos Aires in early December. We did the "bohemian" tour You meet in a small cafe at the start and the guide runs through an Ipad slide show of "get to know your camera" info. This tour is really not a tour of the "regular" tourist sights of Buenos Aires. It is walking tour... More

I spent the day with Daniela exploring the markets of San Telmo. It was a very bright day with the sun directly overhead (tricky conditions). Daniela effortlessly guided me through tips and techniques to work with the conditions and the results were great. I had an amazing time exploring this unique part of the city and I'm incredibly happy with... More

I have only been in Buenos Aires for 1 day and I spent yesterday afternoon with Lisa with her showing me some great hints and tips on how to take better pics with my smartphone and then we wandered around Palermo with her showing me how to take awesome shots. Then we had a brief session after a cold drink... More

I did the off the beaten track tour with Lisa. Am a regular to BA and this was my second Foto Ruta tour, and we went to Villa Crespo, which is a neighbour I barely know. Lisa gave me confidence with using my camera in full manual mode as well as improving skills with Shutter Speed priority mode. Went into... More

I spent a day with Daniella on the "academia" tour. I learnt to use my camera (DSLR) in full manual mode and have some projects to work on to improve my skills. It was a great day and enjoyed it very much.

I am a portrait photographer with a strong passion for street photography. I was looking for a fixer/guide that helped me take good street photography/candid shots that could represent the "real" Buenos Aires, rather than the touristy one, so I opted for a private Street Scape. The manager I was emailing with to arrange things was really helpful. The guide... More

As a beginner photographer, I was a bit apprehensive when I booked the tour but FotoRuta tailored it to my ability perfectly. Kicca responded to all my many (many!) emails and managed to create a package that was exactly what I was looking for. I had Lisa as my guide and couldn't have asked for anyone better. She taught me... More

What a great experience this was. Daniela was a great guide around the city giving me background into the different neighborhoods we went in. She asked what I was interested in and would have tailored the experience if I had any preferences but I did not so she gave me a little of this and a little of that. I... More

Me and my partner really enjoyed this tour- our guide, Danielle, was perfect- approachable and friendly and had lots of good advice and encouraged us to look at things in a different way. What I particularly like was the opportunity to really notice things in this very vibrant area (St Telmo) in a way that is different if you are... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
