Caroline's English is effortless and fluid. Her knowledge of the Recoleta neighborhood, cemetery and Argentina in general is extensive and apparent. People not on our tour kept asking her where different graves were and with a friendly smile she would point them in the right direction. Din't get lost in this huge cemetery!

I found this tour very good. The guide was knowledgable and very friendly - it would be quite hard to find some of the more interesting tombs in the cemetery, without a local guide to show you the way. She told us the history of many and varied buildings in the cemetery and elsewhere as well, and spoke outstanding english.

Carolina was a wonderful and very informative guide! We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the Recoleta cemetery. She showed us some interesting mausoleums and told the stories and background behind them. After the cemetery, we walked to view some of the old palaces that are still standing today. All together it was almost 2 hours that Carolina spent touring with... More

We took the tour with Carolina on Nov 29th. Carolina gave an excellent 2.5 hour tour of the Recoleta cemetary and the mansions on the Recoleta neighborhood. Her English is very good and she is well versed in Argentine history. I enjoyed the tour thoroughly and recommend you to tip her well for her excellent work. She is a very... More

We were lucky enough to be the only ones to go on the tour this Saturday afternoon and it was a lovely way to spend the time. Gabriel and Carolina were enthusiastic and informative, spoke excellent English and provided useful bitesize information for people like us who had very limited knowledge of Argentinian history. They are very down to earth... More

I have taken similar trips at various capital cities around the world and this one did not disappoint. The guides were very informative, speak very good english and brought along maps and pictures to enhance the experience. The tour starts at a very convenient time : 15:45 (taking into account the Buenos aires nightlife only ends in the morning after,... More

I was recommended this tour by a fellow traveler at my hostel. Recoleta is a nice part of Buenos Aires with a lot of history. Both Gabriel and Carolina were there at the Pilar Church early. There was no need to book, just turn up. I was the only tourist at first and I thought they may wish to cancel,... More

I showed up Sunday @ 3:45pm in front of Pilar Church Sept 1, and was my lucky day b/c no one else showed up so I got a 2 hour free guided tour with Gabriel. Great English speaking skills, very knowledgeable about Recoleta in general, and the cemetary, and surrounding area. He was fun tourguide. This is a great introduction... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
