Neighbourhood: Palermo
Best known as the largest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favourite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.

Disappointing Virtual Class
Apr. 2020
In September, my husband and I took an in person class with Norma and were happy with the experience. We wanted to share this experience with our family during the pandemic. Unfortunately, we are disappointed in how the experience and would NOT recommend a virtual class with Norma.

We felt the class was extremely rushed. We've made the recipe on multiple occasions, but still felt like we could barely keep up with the pace. Our family, unfortunately, ended up following the recipe out of the book, and did not follow any instruction provided by you, since the pace was so fast.

Second, we agreed that she would teach three recipes: 2 types of empanadas, chimichuri, and ensalada. She had specifically mentioned in our prep session that we would not put a time limit on the class. However, after 1 hour, she specifically said, “it’s been an hour, so I’m going to drop off the call now.” She read the ingredients from the list for the chimuchuri and ensalada, however, and left the call. My husband and I ended up leading the rest of the class and answering the remainder of the questions.

Overall, the experience felt like watching a YouTube video that you couldn’t pause, and the feedback from our family was, “I didn’t learn anything from the instructor.” We feel that regardless of whether the class is in person or virtual, an instructor should provide more teaching than a written recipe.

We did not find value in the 1-hour session for $350.

Amazing cooking class in Argentina
Feb. 2020 • Friends
We recently started our trip to Patagonia in Buenos Aires . While here, I wanted to experience all the city had to offer and learning to make empanadas was one of them . As we were only there for 2 nights, I was having difficulty locating a class on the days I was there . I reached out to Norma about the possibility of a private class and to my surprise , she was able to accommodate us! She is quick to respond , so flexible , warm and kind . When we found out long lost friends would be in Argentina the same time as us and wanted to join in , Norma was flexible in allowing them to join us also . We met at her lovely home and made lentil stew , empanadas , and alfajores ( delicious cookies with dulche de leche). I especially loved that the empanadas are baked , not fried !The highlight was sitting down to lunch to eat everything ! All the food was AMAZING. We also had delicious argentine wines and mate- learning all
About the traditions and culture . We learned so much and Norma even gave us recipes to make these at home . Once this pandemic is over , I’ll be be entertaining again and will
Be making all these delicious things . This was truely a highlight for us in our trip - don’t miss this if you want a true taste of the argentine culture . Thank you Norma ! Stay safe ❤️

Cooking with an Argentinian Mama
Feb. 2020 • Couples
We found Norma’s class info from a blog on Pinterest. We wanted an authentic, but still professional and well organized experience. We got that and more! Norma took us on a tour of the local market, explaining local traditions...it was like shopping and cooking with my mother as a child in the US... WONDERFUL! She took great care of us and we learned lots both about cooking and the warmth of Argentina. Definitely a MUST DO!

Amazing experience!
Sep. 2019 • Couples
My husband and I did a private class with Norma. We contacted her on our trip to Buenos Aires, and it was a fairly last minute request. Norma was amazing! She was very accommodating, and we enjoyed her cooking class a lot. It was personal and easy to follow. We took the skills home with us and have made the recipes at home! The empanadas were the best we’ve ever had! We highly recommend taking her cooking class if you have a free afternoon in Buenos Aires.

Perfectly seasoned for teens!
Dec. 2019
We had a family cooking class on our first day in BA when everyone was a bit jet lagged. Norma was great with the kids aged 10-16. She is warm, fun and engaging. Our class was a mix of Spanish and English that gave the kids a chance to practice their language skills in a low stakes setting (as opposed to something like a taxi!). Norma gave them lots of hands-on responsibility for cooking a delicious meal. A great way to break up sightseeing with a different and fun kind of experience driven by the kids. I look forward to making the recipes at homes as a fun memory of a great experience that was a highlight of our Argentine trip.

What a great time! Friendly and inviting! Norma did a great job with our class introducing us to the traditions of cooking in Argentina. I had a great time! Well worth the time to meet Norma, her assistant and some new friends.

Fantastic cultural exchange (and great meal we cooked!)
Nov. 2019 • Couples
We had a free morning on our last day in Buenos Aires and Norma graciously let us sign up for her class. We are thrilled to have met her and shared a morning cooking, chatting and learning about Argentine customs and foods.

We enjoyed sharing our meal when we completed our cooking. Normas ended the meal with shared Yerba Mate, we learned the custom and tradition of sharing this drink at the end of he meal.

Using Norma’s recipes we hope to make her proud when we try empanadas at home.

Norma’s cooking class for a family of 4
Nov. 2019 • Family
Norma was absolutely lovely! We emailed her about a cooking class for our family of 4, she was quick to respond and we were at her home cooking with her within a few days!
We enjoyed learning about Argentine dishes, she provided us with some very well-written, easy to follow recipes. My son wasn’t feeling well and she went above and beyond to make him feel at home. We felt incredibly welcome and very much at home and enjoyed the cooking process and the lunch with her.
Her english was excellent, her personality was a joy to be around and her recipes were delicious! She answered any questions we had about food, the culture and the city. She was a wealth of information in addition to her enjoyable class.
We would recommend this cooking class to anyone coming to visit Buenos Aires!
