Centro Argentino de Teatro Ciego ("Argentine Centre of Blind Theatre") is the only theatre in the world in which all performances are given in complete darkness. It is an inclusive cultural venue where senses are the main characters. It is currently showing 7 plays, including a gourmet show, a play for children and musicals. Darkness allows for a new perception of reality making sight unnecessary. This makes it possible for those with a visual disability to be fully engaged in the conducted activities. Teatro Ciego has hired 70 people, 40% of which is blind or with low vision.

Cena Ciego / Blind Dinner. I guess it's my fault, as I was going into this thinking it'd be more of a dinner than a show: a gastronomic experience without light to savor and really enjoy the food we were eating from a different perspective....More

At first I didn't know what to expect. We were taken in line to the restaurant, completely dark. We were seated in large tables side by side our couples with other people in front and at our side (the other side). The plate with the...More

It is a strange and unforgettable visit. The theatre was turned into pitch dark when the show started. The theme of the show on the night was 'Queen'. All we had was on going Queen's music ever for entitle one hours. Not sure why we...More

The "blind theatre group" offers different shows. One of them even includes a gourmet experience with a blind dinner. In my personal case, I chose to start with a simple play. Anxiety. Curiosity. Great expectations. Those were my mixed feelings as the time for the...More

Amazing and unique. First time I've been to a "blind theatre" and I loved it, would definitely go to another show. All darkness, but full of sensations... smell, sound... enhance your senses and experience things from a different angle.

I loved this. You get to eat dinner while in complete darkness. While the first few minutes of total darkness can be unnerving, eventually you start to feel your other senses become heightened. The theatric play that goes with the dinner was also very interesting....More

The show is very well prepared and unusual for people with sight. It is amazing how much our other senses can gather when we cannot see anything. It creates a better understanding of how much a person without sight can feel of their surroundings ....More

Debbie, texts of the plays are in spanish but you can enjoy the effects that estimulate the non visual senses. We recommend A Ciegas Gourmet that, apart from the play, offers music and dinner, all in total darkness. Another... More
