Neighbourhood: San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.

    Really fun Feria!
So much fun! We are here now and having a great time. Lots of cool antiques in the Plaza Dorrego, vendors are very low key. And there is a group in the back part of the plaza that does a tango show that is really wonderful. I gave 5000 pesos (four dollars U.S.) because they were amazing ... be generous!!!!

Crowded Sunday shopping along Calle Defensa but fun
My wife and I made plans to go to the San Telmo flea market on Calle Defensa during the Sunday we were visiting in Buenos Aires. It was all that we expected, except my wife was hoping to see more leather goods. We saw an artist from Patagonia who we had purchased two paintings from the previous day at the street market in Palermo Soho. It was great fun to stroll down the street between the stalls. We spent about two hours looking around. I compare this flea market to the El Rastro flea market in Madrid.

    Interesting Sunday Market!
If you are into antiques, memorabilia etc then this is the place to visit if you happen to be in BA on a Sunday. It is a mixed bag market - old and new with loads of stalls selling similar things though you get the odd item that is different from others. There are also some new items on offer as well. It was funny to see that some of the traders were giving their prices in US dollars though they would accept the local currency. You could also haggle as well to get the prices down and get a good deal!

    Touristy, but great!
Visited on Easter Sunday and had no idea that the market stretched so far - an indoor part that is probably permanent, and outdoor filling up the local streets. The indoor market was rammed with people. There were some really interesting eateries right in the middle, and the casa de dulce leche which sold wonderful ice cream lollies indulgently wrapped in chocolate with more chocolate on top (stuck on with dulce de leche). You can buy everything from stamps, vinyls and bric a bracelet, to crocheted toys, handmade scarves and curios. Really good if you enjoy markets.

    Bargains Galore in Markets
Pretty hard to miss these markets, as they were set up out front of our hotel! Every Sunday from 10am to late afternoon/early evening there are over 200 booths selling everything imaginable! I picked up a great wooden chess set with the Jesuits taking on the Incas, I'm rooting for the locals! You can buy curios, vinyl records, clothes, hats, artwork, food, jewellery, the list is endless. A great way to spend a couple of hours on a sunny Sunday, strolling the cobblestone alleys and people watching. Just keep the wife moving or your wallet will be much lighter!

    Fantastic SAN Telmo!
The best street market I’ve visited in a long time. I’m from Southeast Asia and Australia, our markets are infiltrated by cheap Chinese products. SAN Telmo has more original and authentic Argentinian made products than other markets I’ve visited before. I would come back here every time and anything. So impressive! Just beware of pickpockets I hear!

One of the place that touristic guides recommend to vist is the SAN TELMO.
There are several thinks to see there. Shops with leathers thinks, souvenirs, the Antiques bazaar, where you can find old and second hands thinks and curios. Also there is a food market with some small restaurants. If you have time you can walk in the narrow roads. It is a litl bit jammed but colorful.

It’s so cute San Telmo!!, it can be expensive, but many pieces are unique, better to wear than later repent; arriving at Plaza Dorrengo at 12 o’clock is fine, there are the stands of the real antique dealers, jewelry, books, pictures etc. They have annexed art galleries, designer shops and other very interesting surrounding shops. Street performers abound and French-style restaurants and cafes that fill the streets with plenty of music around complete the show. Unmissable.
I don't understand that he was doing a Starbucks on the corner, well, there's likes for everyone.
Attentive to security, as in any crowded place, I caught a young friend of others in the open.

Emblematic place in Buenos Aires. But like only seeing it once. A huge variety of objects for sale. Some really old. But with an absurd amount of visitors it becomes annoying And each time it expands, really demonstrating Argentina's economic crisis

Previously restricted to the Plaza Dorrego and its surroundings, today the "San Telmo Fair" also extends throughout the Calle Defensa. Many tents selling trinkets. So much so that the main antique dealers migrated into stores and galleries.

Impossible a trip to Buenos Aires and not visit the San Telmo Fair. Unfortunately, the fair itself is installed only on Sundays when it attracts crowds and the San Telmo district lives 100%. However, this one also works the rest of the week, mainly churches, restaurants and galleries with interesting and beautiful antiques that evoke melancholy times past. Some things, mainly in the galleries of old and silly things, can be really expensive, but you simply check their price and make an offer or request a discount (everything is talkable, you have to try). It must be negotiated definitively so that the buyer and seller are satisfied. On the other hand, it seems to me that the products sold at the fair on Sunday, mostly are crafts in large-scale production and you will likely find them anywhere. In this case it is advisable to have prior price references before getting excited and making the decision to buy. Because later the same product can be found cheaper with consequent disappointment. San Telmo Fair and its neighborhood, a charm. I'd always come back.

We didn't know it and we liked it. There are antiques and delicious food at a very good price. We went on a Saturday and there were few people, you could walk calmly. We ate a delicious pistachio eclair in a place with very bad customer service.
