I highly recommend seeing this sculpture. It will only take a few minutes and it is one of the most amazing pieces of art I have ever seen.

this is a pretty sculpture made of steel and aluminumand was a gift to the city by the Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano If you are lucky to be there at the right times the flower opens and closes again. At night at sun set the light reflected off the petals. I could not though find the times it opened nor... More

Sighted this arrangement while travelling on Buenos Aires Bus, luckily passed the area again while with another tour group and the driver agreed to a 5 minute photostop. Our guide explained that it operated mechanically, opening with sunrise and closing with sunset. It had been broken for a number of years and only recently fixed. I think you would need... More

A cute little park (very popular for hanging out at night) with an amazing flower that opens and closes (but would have to stay for a long time to see it) Still I found it beautiful and inspiring to just hang out and take pictures.

We were surprised by the amount of open grass parks in Buenos Aires. We found this one to have unique art work and pleasurable to walk around.

One would have to spend a lot time in front of it to see petals open up with time. It's a wonderful piece of art that was left broken for years before they put it back together recently.

This "flower" has been broken since 6 months prior to our arrival as we were told. Next to a law school, nice view from the bridge.

Great feat of engineering. Was a nice easy walk to get to. It opens like a giant flower. I can't think of anything else to say.

Passed the Tulip (as I prefer to call it) on a tour of Buenos Aires. The surrounding parkland area is spectacular - well cared for, lush greenery and quiet and peaceful. We could have spent much longer than our 45 minutes there. The tulip stands proudly in one of the parks - it opens and closes and shines brightly especially... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
